Friends of ours are going and have a split stay, but the first part of their stay is off site, due to them going at a time when promos don't start til mid stay. So they will get magic bands. They won't be able to schedule fast passes for their off site days until 30 days out, right? But will their magic bands work with their tickets before they check in? They will link their tickets, but I didn't know if they are only "activated" once they check in.

If they link their tickets, they should be able to use the bands to enter the parks even before they go to a Disney resort. this is assuming they don't have a package reservation. How did they plan to get tickets for the first days when they are offsite?

they don't have a package. They will get their tickets from undercover tourist and link them. So they will be able to schedule their first four days at 30 days out. Thanks!!

Make sure they know that it is 30 days out from each day they plan to use a ticket. For their onsite days, they can book all FPs at 60 days out from their onsite arrival day.

We have a split stay with the first part of our stay off site and the second at Disney. We linked our Undercover Tourist tickets on the MDE. We weren't able to set up our FPs until 60 days before our first Disney reservation night, but at that point the system let us set up FPs for every day of our tickets including those when we were not yet at Disney. Don't know if that was a fluke or standard but they should give it a try.
