How does booking at a kiosk physically work?

If I have wife, 2 kids and my parents with, do we each have to book FPs separately?

You can scan multiple tickets to create a family group and then one person can make all of the selections.

Only one person needs to go to the kiosk or a Fp+ iPad CM with all of the tickets to schedule your choices. It's much easier to have the iPad CM assist you as they can switch times pretty quickly if you aren't happy with the first choices that come up.

If you decide later that you need to switch or change your Fp+ times or choices, just one person needs to go to the kiosk/CM with one ticket and the changes can be made for the complete group.

Perfect. My idea was that I take tix once we enter and bolt to kiosk away from gate while family takes leisurely stroll to my location.

thanks. I'm hoping that all the people who've threatened to never go again make good on their threats. ;)

That's a good plan, try to get it right the first time! You CAN go to a kiosk and switch your times/rides, but by the time you decided to do that, you'd probably find lines for the kiosk or CM that are almost as long as the line for the ride (at least that's what we found during president's week)

And, instead of waiting an hour or so for your second and then third Fp+ to open up you can ask an iPad CM to check to see if you can change them to immediate use. Every time we did this, we were able to head straight to the Fp+ entrance and walk-on the attraction ... this was during Pres' Week and Princess 1/2 Marathon weekend.

The first time you book your FPs, try to let a CM with an i-Pad do it for you while you look over their shoulder. "Blips", errors and misinformation can and do pop up during the booking process. The CMs can spot this, whereas the guest may take the mistake at face value. For example, the system might show no availability at a particular attraction. You might shrug it off and say, "Guess I'm out of luck". The CM might say: "That can't be right. Let me try this little trick that I know to see if I can get you booked." Also, if you end up in a line of people waiting to be helped by a CM, that is much better than being in line to use a kiosk. There is a high probability that the CM helping the guests will zip through 2 or 3 guests for every one guest that is struggling at the kiosk.

Thanks. I had planned to wait till next year to allow dust to settle but we were given free 2-day tickets by a friend so we're going to go while we're down on spring break.

When you ask for your rides, the CM will give you several "package" options (soarin at 8-9, figment 10-11, captain eo 1-2; or maybe soarin 9-10, captain eo 1-2, figment 2-3), and the way it's presented ("Best Option," "Option A", "Option B," "Option C") makes it seem like those are your ONLY options. For us, the last option presented "Option D" or something like that, was often the best option, so don't choose until you see all of them.

ALSO, the CM can individually pick the ride times. So instead of accepting the "package", the CM can "go into" the Soarin selection and handpick a time from all the slots available. So you can tailor it.

It's also better to pick a package for the whole travel party, then micromanage the people who can't or don't go on certain rides (so pick Soarin for everyone, then manually change Soarin to something else for the minority of folks who won't ride).

Finally, the first/biggest FP kiosk is the one that gets the most people at rope drop. Walk to the next one down! So plan on your map -- at Epcot, there are breezeways to the left and right of the central area beyond Spaceship Earth -- those were much less crowded at rope drop than the central one.

And as mentioned before, 1 person can go to the kiosk with everyone's park tickets to get all the FP+s.

Are the iPad CMs located near the kiosks, or somewhere else? After riding Buzz at rope drop, my family will ride Sp. Mountain and since I cannot, I will go get the FPs for the day. Where would the closest/best/fastest location be for me at that point?

right across the street at stitch, according to info here an other sites

I don't know if I read it here or on another board, and have no idea if it is true, but someone mentioned that the cast members in plaid have more leeway than the ones in blue when rearranging fastpasses.
