FP+ help---staying offsite in 2 weeks

I know there are many many posts about FP+ and I have read some of them, but I am looking for information about FP+ when staying offsite. Please tell me how it works for off-site guests.

We will be getting into town on April 19 and staying for a week and staying offsite for the first time due to many factors. We have 4 day park hopper tickets and plan to do 2 days at one of the water parks. We haven't been to WDW in 4 years and have 2 teens and 1 tween. Any suggestions or info. would be appreciated. As far as I know, it works the same as it does for people staying onsite, except that people staying offsite can only book 30 days in advance, while people staying onsite can book 60 days in advance. Also, people staying onsite use Magic Bands to access (for lack of a better term) their FPs, while offsite guests just use their tickets.

As of March 31st off-site guests can book FP+ 30 days in advance. If your tickets are linked to your MDE account you can log in right now and select FP+ for your entire trip. The 3 selections must be within the same park.
