Hello everyone!

So, planning in full force. We will be using MDE and FP+ for the first time this summer. As I understand it, you can't get "on the day" fast passes until you have used up your booked ones. So, if I apply this logic, when we visit Epcot and if one of my FP+ booked attractions is Reflections of Earth fireworks which is on at 9 o'clock, I will not be able to make any more FPes that day? Do I have this right? This suggests that this is a poor use of a FP....

Also, what do you get for a FP for RoEarth? Is it just preferred viewing?

Finally, the EMH are not what I expected... The day we planned to do evening EMH at MK, they finish at midnight.... One of my most favourite memories was walking around the MK around half one!!!! Are the cutting back?

Thank you so much my Disney friends...

Yes, you are right in your thinking that if you have a FP+ for Illuminations, you will not be able to get any more that day. Whether it's a waste is really up to you. Personally, I think a Tier 1 FP is better used for Soarin' or Test Track as the lines for those are generally insane even first thing in the morning now. However, if you were going to the park in teh evening just to see the fireworks then it would be a good use of a FP+. The FP+ for Illuminations gets you entry to a preferred viewing area in between Canada and Mexico. It is a good view, but you still need to get there relatively early to get a decent spot and there are no seats.

As far as EMH, I don't think they are cutting back. EMH in teh evening have been limited to 2 hours after park closing for some time now. It really depends what time of year you are going as to whether those EMH take you into the early hours of the morning. When we were there in March MK had regular closing at midnight and EMH until 2am, in October regular closing was generally 10 or 11 and EMH till midnight or 1am. In the height of summer, I would imagine it will be 2/3am but end of August into September it will be earlier.

as stated above, whether anything is a waste is a function of a person's preferences.
but in epcot, soaring/test track is a better use of a FP.

That being said, when DD was there in November, she used FP for both Fantasmic in DHS and Wishes in Magic Kingdom, as those two things are very very very important to her. But each person is different as to what their priorities are.

Thanks Wilma. I was looking at EMH on August 8th - seems the MK closes at 10pm (regular hours).... I would have thought it would have been open longer!

disney changes hours on the fly.
When DD was there in mid-november, the MK was scheduled to close every day at 10, but several days in a row, they extended the hours to midnight, making a public address announcement to that effect. They did it because it was so much more crowded than what they had been expecting.

These are the minimum hours for August. I would put money on them being extended- at the 6 month mark Disney release the hours at the minimum they want to open once they get an idea of crowds they adjust them.

Last week they adjusted the hours for April extending the opening of MK on nearly everyday.

They will extend and add extra MSEP and Fantasmic showings once they get a better idea of bookings and I think FP+ bookings may be added into this now too.

I've never known the August hours to be accurate at six months out!
