FP+ for offsite guests will come some day

There still seems to be some who doubt that offsite guests will be given the chance to reserve FP+ prior to day off at the parks. I think it is clear from the new brochure that comes with the planning DVD that they will. For "Disney FastPass+" it states "For the first time ever, reserve access to must-do attractions and entertainment experiences before you even leave home." There is a footnote, but it doesn't say anything about having to be an onsite guest. The Magic Ban section does have a footnote that says you need to be an onsite guest to get one.
So no idea when it will roll out but I think it's pretty clear it is coming.

I agree. Just from Disney's standpoint, if they're using this system to figure out when people will use their tickets and in which parks, they have to include all guests.

As an onsite guest, I would still like a guarantee that I'm going to at least be able to get some FP's for rides I want to do if I can't log in at the 60 day mark but offsite guests are going to have to get advance access for the system to work properly for everyone. I can't imagine what it will be like at the kiosks Pres. Week with everyone trying to select fp's on the fly -- those lines are going to be ridiculous.

They will get it because they need to, but the system isn't working perfectly for onsite guests and AP holders yet so idk when. Or even if they'll fix those issues first. They might not, and then just throw everyone into the big mess. :scared1:

If it does happen (and I think it has a chance at some point, but not soon), I think it will be tied to resort tiering and extra FPs for onsite/resort-level.

If they do, they will have to treat every active ticket like an AP. They can't tie them to actual stays, because they have no access to other hotel reservation systems.

That is a lot of tickets that could book FP+ without an actual trip planned.

You're right - they would have to do something. Even just limiting it to the number of days on a ticket would be ridiculous. Imagine -- you're trying to decide between traveling in March or in November, so you book all your fp's for March just in case, knowing you can delete them at the last minute with no penalty.

The same could be said for resort stays though -- you can cancel a RO reservation 2 days before arrival or a package 45 days before, both are well within the 60 day limit. So setting it at 60 days just seems random to me. Tbh I think they'll give offsite guests equal chance to mess up the system.

While the OP might be a real person, I gotta wonder at the number of FP+ threads started by or with significant numbers of posts from members with really low post counts.

As unwieldy as it is to use MDE to make FP+ reservations, I can't imagine that very many people would take the time to do this sort of thing. Also, if you're trying to decide between March and November, you can't make FP+ until January, by which time (or very soon thereafter) you probably have decided which month you will be going.

I have a 6-day unused ticket (from a previous trip where wife had an AP and didn't use the ticket which was part of the Free Dining package), and I am able to make FP+ reservations for any 6 days in the next 60 days. I agree with OP that it's just a matter of time before everyone with a ticket can link the ticket and make FP+ for the number of days of the ticket.

You're staying offsite and you're able to make FP+ reservations?

Did I misunderstand?

I don't have any upcoming trip, so I don't have any offsite or onsite reservation at all.

But I'm apparently in the same situation as APs who have previously stayed onsite as a FP+ "tester." We stayed onsite in November, and I'm sure that's the reason why I am able to make FP+ reservations with an old ticket I have (this ticket is from 2012).

We are staying offsite for our upcoming trip in April. My MDE app is telling me that I can begin scheduling FPs tomorrow (this date showed up in my app last week - had not been there before). I'm keeping my fingers crossed it is correct, and I will let you know tomorrow what happens!

Please do.

We arrive tomorrow for our first offsite stay. All of our dining reservations & our tickets are in MDE. It says I can book my FP+ starting April 15, 2014. So strange. I have no other trips planned yet after this one & I was not a FP+ tester ever. I remain hopeful that I can book some FP in advance but know it's not too likely at this point.

... The Magic Ban section does have a footnote that says you need to be an onsite guest to get one.

I know its a typo, but its pretty funny.

I guess the new system does put a ban on the Magic - and now it has been documented in a brochure, complete with its own section
