I got an email to let me know that they'll be selecting AP holders to take part in testing FP+ for AP. That's all. They'll contact people who have been selected. Can't be me, we're heading to WDW on Saturday, but mayb some of you will be picked. I can't feel too bad - we get two weeks in an AKL studio in August / so I'll have lots of opportunity then. Just gonna take it easy this trip.

I'm confused by this. I have an AP and I've made my FP+ selections for my March trip. Am I missing something?

You have probably made them as a result of having an onsite room reservation.
Right - we have two timeshares - one at AKL and one off site / we do the off site one for our winter/spring trip. We haven't stayed onsite with our ap yet since they rolled out the FP+, so we need to tour like the second class citizens that we are for staying off site - never mind that Disney gets 70% of our discretionary income, lol.

And again.....I have an AP. I was at WDW for one night about 2-3 weeks ago, stayed at Pop and made two days worth of FP+ choices two days before we drove up. (Very last minute, spur of the moment stay). I was there in a dec...again, used FP+ for that stay.
I'm going again, in June. Just for giggles, and to see what would happen, I went into MDE and tried to make FP+ choices for April. Well, it let me! I'm able to book FP+ choices up to April 13. I never got any notification telling me I could now do this.....with no resort reservation. But, it obviously works...at least for me.

If you have an AP and you stay onsite, you can then make future FP+ reservations regardless of whether you are staying onsite or not. You just need that initial onsite stay to activate your FP+ eligibility. I believe the AP testing they are referring to is really for those who have AP's but have not and don't plan to stay onsite.

^This.

Here's my favorite part of the e-mail:

We continue to make great progress on MyMagic+ for Passholders. As we test and enhance this new service, we want to keep our Passholders in the know every step of the way.

OK, this is now coming about 8 months after the fact. :lmao::lmao:

:rotfl2: Good one.

Seriously, I hope all goes smoothly and am glad to hear that hopefully soon AP holders will be able to prebook if they wish.

Exactly... Continuing the minimal information Disney has shared along the way.

It drives me itty that Disney just doesn't let us know anything. I have to come here, to the DIS, to get useful info. As an AP holder, one would think that we would be told what was going on when there is a change. Ah well, it is what it is....business as usual with Disney.

Im sorry if this has been addressed before, but if you have an AP and are staying onsite do you get a magic band? We have exchanged the paper for plastic AP cards, and booked an upcoming stay. It doesn't give me the option to customize the magic band. Again, sorry if this has been addressed.

I had a CM tell me last week that even with my MB I won't be able to make any future FP+ unless I stay on site every time. I smiled and nodded. Obviously Disney WANTS you to think that, but I can now book 60 days according to MDE and I have no on site reservations.

Now the catch is my MB without any on site reservations isn't good for anything except decoration and if I want to use it to swipe at the ride entrance...but you can use your regular AP also for that. I still need my plastic card AP for parking, entering the parks, to get any AP discounts and my credit card to make charges since no information is stored on the MB when you stay off site.

You should be able to use your MagicBand to enter the park.

You can use your MB to enter the park, but still can't go completely ticketless like Disney advertises. Have to bring my ticket for parking and discounts and my TiW along with the MB. My 4 year old ends up getting bored with his band and then that goes in my purse as well. So now I'm carrying more stuff around. :rolleyes2

I'm one of the AP Holders in the test. We were told we could use our MBs or our cards interchangeably. DS hates wearing his bad so as soon as the FPs are done for the day he wants the band off his wrist. It's been nice, as a local, to book my FP reservations for a Friday after work without having to go to the park first.
