Been to WDW many times in past. Used FP- extensively. First time with FP+ on upcoming trip 25-30 Jan 2015.(Have APs but staying on property starts 27 Jan) 60 day window opened this morning. I've read most of the FP+ good, bad & ugly threads over the past year and somewhat educated on FP+ but obviously not educated enough!! Questions:

1) The Midnight opening was actually at 0100. I know from previous post this happens when parks are open late with the cooresponding 60 day window. But why? anyone know?

2) My trip is late Jan crowd levels 1 & 2 mostly. I was cued up and ready to FP+ exactly at 1200 and then at 0100. Tried to get A&E using last days first method. Nothing! Parades - no go!! Wishes - got one night available! 7DMT availibilty not a problem times not very good for me. This is the end of January? Why would I not be able to pick and choose what & when I wanted?

3)MLK holiday is week prior. Vacationers staying 2 weeks are sucking up all the A&Es & parades, etc, is that the reasoning or is something else happening?

4)My work will only allow 5/6 day stays. Am I always gonna be at the mercy of the 2 weekers? Is there another way to help in this scenario?

5) FP selection process to me was an awkward an cumberson process. I expected to be able to select multiple days, select FP for a day then choose next day and repeat. Instead, although I could select multiple days when I select one days FP to complete with the "Done" option it takes me back to the welcome to FP page to start whole thing over?? Not a good process! Did I miss something?

Not a steller start to FP+! Any recommendations for next time?

Parade FP aren't out yet - they usually come out 2 weeks/ 30 days or so in advance. I got Anna and Elsa on 2/4 with no trouble and they were open on other days (my window was from 1/27 - 2/5. I know last night Saturday 1/31 had some availability for them as well. I think your 'problem' is not the length of your trip but the fact you're not staying onsite from the get go (sorry A&E are really hard to get )

for 7D there was plenty (in my experience) of times available. Did you try to modify your time once you selected your FPs?

As for #5 - I agree - they've changed the system - here and there over time but I too thought it was still cumbersome in that you had to sort of start over for each day.

.

Yes 7DMT was really no problem. There were ample times available and I did try to modify, they just happen to not work very well with my other plans, ADRs, etc.

I know A&E are hard to get, I just figured the last week of Jan(usually very slow) there should be something available. We're just a party of three!

I did see other post indicating that A&E were mostly taken thru the end of Jan but became more readily available a few days into Feb. The only thing I can contribute that to is maybe with heavier crowds there for the MLK holiday (usually busy time) with extended stays into a 2nd week. They would get the pick of the A&Es compared to someone like myself with basically a short stay from 27-30 Jan.

I had forgotten about the parades not being available until later. Really just experimenting with the parades - no big deal!

Will continue to check for A&Es but not worth spending too much time with, mostly just experimenting with the FP+ system.

Thanks

As far as A&E go, if you really want to grab them, just keep checking back. I was only able to book 30 days out and got neither A&E nor 7DMT, but after a couple days more were added and I was able to grab both. I can't speak too much about this new experience because I never used the old FP system

That is no longer the case.

The parade FPs are available 60 days in advance.
They just disappear (get chosen) nearly instantly.

Will do! We'll check some more the A&Es. I liked the old system but just got to figure out the new one.

Ok thanks we'll keep checking for the parades as well.

Anyone have an idea why these attractions are gone immediately 60 days from what should be a very slow time in the parks?

There are only a tiny number of FP+ available for a parade.
A parade only runs once (or twice) a day.

A regular attraction runs all day long.

Otherwise, there appears to be no time that is "very slow" anymore,
and with FP+ forcing guests to choose booking so far in advance,
the highest-demand attractions will go fast.

One of the major downsides of this FABULOUS new system.

I hear you!

Those who complained FP- and rope drop were an unfair advantage, that seems like childs play compared to this electronic rope drop 60 days out.

I'm confident though after a couple trips of using, I'll figure it out, beat it and restore order to the world!
