FP+ FAQ Update - No FP- for FP+ Users

Everyone arguing that offsite guests will have it so much better because they can "pull as many FPs as they want" and pull FPs after park hopping is basing these comments on how they remember the FP system. The pool of paper FPs is VASTLY smaller and things are running out earlier. And Disney will only continue to scale back the pool of paper FPs, so it's not going to be the sunshine and rainbows scenario some are painting for offsite guests.

A logical assumption for sure, but given that it's 2:17 at Epcot and both Test Track and Soarin have FP available it's possible that for those that planned carefully with FP- might just be at an advantage today.

Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out.

I've heard that The Holy Hand Grenade will be available for resort guests only.

You have a point, but if KTTW cards won't be able to pull FP- tickets as the FAQ implies then they would indeed have to change the coding on the legacy machines, otherwise the KTTW card will continue to work and this FAQ is just hoping to convince people it won't work.

No. All Disney is going to do is turn back on the system they previously "turned off". FP - machines already were set up to recognize if the ticket media had been used to enter the parks. They turned it off during the testing phase because people we being issued both magic bands and kttw cards as a back up. Since the KTTW cards would not be used most of the time to enter the parks and the MBs would be, they turned off the fp - machines ability to recognize that fact hence why people have been able to pull fps with all kinds of expired media. I am sure all Disney is gonna do is flip that switch back on and stop issuing KTTW cards to MB holders. The only people who will be able to pull fp- at that point are people with physical tickets that were used to enter the park that day.

I totally agree with you! No argument from me. I do not predict rainbows and sunshine for offsite guests.

My post illustrates a scenario that is just a possibility during this transition/testing time, but I don't think that it's a probability. Especially with how paper fastpasses have been running out so fast.

Anyway, I believe paper FPs will be axed once this is fully rolled out, as others have noted. I'll be there in early January (on-site, already have my magicband customized) and am interested to see this in action myself.

Anyone actually been denied legacy FP- or KTTW cards yet? A first hand report from today would be very reassuring.

First hand today: I have a magic band, a kttw card they gave me without my asking and an AP that I just purchased. The FP + I have been able to schedule and change on the go easily although it is very limiting having to be one park per day. I used kttw cards to pull regular FP until I got my AP then they quit working bc I do t use them for admission. Now I pull regular FP with my AP card.

If they change all the parks to a limit of one headliner ride per day, I will be in line at guest services to complain and hope that others do the same. Maybe if guest service locations had lines of upset customers...out the door and down the street lol....they would re-think this absurd policy!

You'll be behind all of the people who can't even get into the park because of glitches with the MBs. :rotfl2:

I can remember it saying up to 3 since the website FAQ came out.

And several months back, some of us had a heated debate about the fact that "up to three" does not guarantee three, but rather getting 1 or 2 still met that criteria (as in a sale where you can save "up to" 50%).

If customer service lines get that long, they will just offer a FP+ for customer service lines as well. Would it be a tier 1 or tier 2 FP?

So now you can't pull FP- with your KTTW card?

Don't give them any ideas ;)

OK, i did my very first screen shot from my phone, hope this works:

I checked my MDE app and mine says the exact same thing as the screenshot here.

I have not done the most recent update yet. I am running version 1.4 of the app on an iPhone 4S.

So, maybe this policy hasn't changed and it was worded this way all along?

All I can say is that I'm hoping for some pixie dust for the next week couple of weeks so that we'll be able to use legacy FP along with our FP+ selections, if needed. pixiedust:

i'm ok with regular fps going away. But at the same time i didn't see it as "double dipping" when park guests have become accustomed to utilizing multiple fps in multiple parks. How can disney sell park hopper tickets and limit guests to 3 fp+ per day within one park? That is a huge change.

^^ this!

I'm confused:/. I never got an email invite for magic bands or fastpass +. But the MDE website showed 5 magic bands for my family and I so i customized them and they arrived today. I went on the website and set up fastpass+ selections which all show up on the MDE app on my phone. However when I tried to modify a selection on my phone (which I will need to be able to do at the parks) it says I'm not eligible for fastpass +. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? We arrive the first week of December. Thanks in advance!

Just emailed Disney to be taken off Fast Pass + for our upcoming November 17 - 23 trip. I am spitting mad!!! I thought I could get early Fast Passes and take my chances getting others when I had completed my rides. Now I find out I am limited to 3 rides in all parks!!! Why the heck did I buy a park hopper. Not taking this lying down. Someone is going to get an earful tomorrow!!!!

There was talk that the in park kiosks might need fastpasses to help with the lines when the offsite people try to set up their FP+. The trouble is that you'd have to go to the kiosk first to get any fastpasses at all. :)

I suspect that this might just be the first step of many as Disney phases out old fastpass. I doubt that there will much if anything left for those who stay offsite so I personally wouldn't be bothered by that. Yet. ;)

If the lines get that long with those complaining there will be no wait on the rides, and you won't need a Fastpass. :)

There was discussion of putting more entertainment and some snack outlets in the lines. Maybe some GS desks could be added too. ;)

Just got off the phone with Disney Customer Service. I will be issued a KTTW pass at check in that will allow me to access fp- at anytime not conflicting with fp+ times. They must be getting an earful because she knew exactly why I was calling. Says fp+ created to allow resort guests to have 3 guaranteed fast passes. Meant to enhance onsite guest experience. I will let you know.....
