I need help coming up with a plan. I am a wee bit stressed out over this whole FP+ ordeal (first time using it). We are staying off property so we can book only at the 30 day mark. Given that people can't get reservations 60 days out, I've all but given up hope.

We are doing the MNSSHP on Sept 18th. We will have one additional day at MK (I think the 22nd... whatever day it is isn't a party day).

Musts:
A&E (top priority)
Merida
Rapunzle
Ariel/Gaston
Mine Train
Fantasmic

All parades/night shows- obviouslt not a huge deal as we will still be able to attend those without a FP+, though if we get one, great.

Knowing what options I have, what would you do? We already have our halloween tickets but my husband (for whatever dumb reason) wants to buy our tickets at the gate when we arrive (I'm pretty sure I can convince him otherwise).

What should be my plan of attack? What should I attempt to do on the MNSSHP night (planning to be there at 4pm) and what should my plan be for our MK day (planning for rope drop but honestly I doubt it's going to happen as my elderly grandmother has decided to join us on that day...)

I should note, my grandmother is in her 70s and had hip replacement surgery less than 6 months ago. We are trying to convince her to rent a scooter but she has way too much pride for that. My parents have already offered to take the kids, along with grandma for some slower activities so DH and I can do other stuff if we want.

pretty sure you can't book any fast passes unless you have your tickets already. Buying them at the gate precludes you from booking any at the 30 day mark. Someone correct me if I'm wrong....

No you're absolutely right.

I just feel like what's the point if people can't get anything at 60 days, I;m sure I'll be totally out of luck at 30 days.

you never know, because there are people who have no idea at all that you should book fastpasses even at 30 days out. I would try for mine train, I've heard people have had some luck with it, if you keep checking, same with A&E. Fantasmic is at Hollywood Studios... and since there are no FP's during the actual party itself, may be an Ok time to try standby on the mine train. Regular princesses may or may not be available at the party, so I would try those on your MK day.

IDK if FP+ works during the party itself. A lot of us just got screwed today if we had a third FP that ended past the 6:30 time slot; Disney cancelled our third FP+ en masse. There's another thread about it.

I'm not sure if I'm understanding your post correctly. Are you only going to the party that night, or will you be in the park, too? I've heard that most rides are a walk-on during the party, but IDK from experience. I know many were walk-ons during the Christmas Party in 2013. A&E are going to be your most difficult. At 60 days out, most folks weren't able to get it for FP+ unless it was 6 or 7 days out from their arrival. That's just what I've seen in the forums.

I would highly recommend looking at Josh's cheat sheets at Easywdw.com: http://www.easywdw.com/category/cheat-sheets/
We followed his advice for our entire honeymoon trip, and he was dead on accurate.

He has an older post about Anna and Elsa here: http://www.easywdw.com/uncategorize...seven-dwarfs-mine-train-media-event-closures/

This is a more recent post: http://www.easywdw.com/uncategorize...gdom-morning-touring-over-spring-break-32715/

I think you do need your tickets in order to book FP+. If you wait until you get tickets at the gate, you likely won't get 7DMT, A&E, etc.

We are only doing the MNSSHP. We will be going back to MK a few days later. So essentially 1 party and 1 full day at MK.

If I'm not mistaken, you can't fastpass Merida or Gaston, and Fantasmic is at HS. If you can't get a FP+ on the day your window opens for A&E and mine train keep trying up until your party day. I wouldn't see too much of a problem with Ariel or Rapunzle. Good luck!

Can't help with a lot of the meets, but DGD met Ariel at a party with no wait.
I don't think Gaston has a FP.....you just line up for him.

I think Anna and Elsa will be hard for a FP.....I think even at 60 days people can't get them.
Rope drop and wait is probably best.

There are no FP+ during the parties so you would only be booking them for your regular MK day. Some of us have had success in booking FP+ between 4-7 with just a MNSSHP ticket.

I just booked mine at 60 days 12am. Fantasmic, A&E and Illuminations were already gone, so I doubt there is much hope for 30 days. On the upside, I was able to get everything else, although I did have to do some rearranging of our touring plan at MK for 7dmt and at HS for tot. I got everything at Epcot no problem.
