FP day is tomorrow; please critique my strategy

The only thing I have to add is if you don’t get FOP with step 1, I would skip step 2. Don’t bother looking FOP your 1st day, go right to 8/10, which is dramatically more likely. Then you can move on faster to 7DMT and Toy Story.

Thanks to everyone who has been extraordinarily patient with all of my FP questions. It has helped immensely.

Tomorrow is my FP day; I'd like feedback on my strategy.

Our trip is Aug 5-10, arriving at 6 am 8/5 and leaving by 2 pm from AKV on 8/10.

Initially we were not planning on rides 8/5 or 8/10 but FOP might change all that...I have broken down my days. I won't bore you with all the details but basically time restriction are due to ADRs. Only a few are not changeable.

8/5: arrival day post red eye
8/6: AK
8/7: Epcot
8/8: MK
8/9: DHS
8/10 departure day


1. Try for FOP anytime 8/6
2. Try for FOP after 1 pm 8/5
3. Try for FOP before 11 am on 8/10
4. Try for Slinky or Aliens before 6 pm on 8/9
5. Try for 7DMT before 1 pm on 8/8
6. If no FOP on 8/6 get Na'vi, EE, and Safari FPs
7. If no Slinky or Aliens on 8/9 get TSMM, RnR, ToT
8. If no 7DMT on 8/8 then Splash, PP, BTMRR
9. Epcot 8/7 Test Track, Spaceship Earth, Nemo and friends; after these we would try to FP FEA

Do I have them in the correct order in regard to difficulty to obtain? Would you change anything?

Thanks for asking! Well everyone was right, could only get FOP for our departure day so most likely I will keep checking for times on 8/6 and we will ride it at closing as well. But I added EE that day too; might as well as we'll be there.

Slinky was easy and still has lots of times for 8/9, Aliens too for 8/9. 7DMT we got as well and at the time I was wanting!

The site was a joke, my phone worked better but between the 2, I did get everything I wanted. I ended up booking a couple of rides for AK on 8/5 in case we limit the mimosas at brunch (highly unlikely though). LOL.

Epcot had everything available, still does.

Now do I go back to sleep, or try, for 90 minutes, or keep messing around with this?

What time this morning? I was up at 3:30 and started right at 4 am PST; we live in CA.

This was by far the most difficult time I had booking fast passes in the last five years. Either the beginning of August is going to be busy or they havent released all of the fast passes yet.

I agree! When I booked them for my April break trip, had no problem getting FoP on multiple days for 9AM, this time had to wait till last 2 days...Looks like it's gonna be a crowded August!

I have read a few reports on these boards that more fast passes have been added a week or two after the initial date so we will have to see if that is the case. If it is, then chances are they are just holding back fast passes for whatever reason.

Don’t base anything on the fast pass experience lol

After 15 mins of fast pass opening everything calms down and things can be made smoothly. I believe they don’t release everything at 60 days as they want others to have a chance also

I am sure the summer will be busy but don’t worry about it being super crowded. If anything, summer crowds have died down

I thought to myself, if this is how it always is, I’m not sure I want to visit Walt Disney World again. I have been able to go in though and edit and move things around a little bit by an hour or so. I am glad my first rodeo is over. LOL.

Yikes! I only tried for my second day and then my last day which is also departure day. I took the one on my last day but I will keep stalking the site for the first or second day. I didn’t check days 3-5 because I really don’t want to move everything around for one ride. I know we will end up riding at closing on Day 2. I have heard mixed reviews so we'll see if its a one and done or a must do.

I stayed on for an hour after and didn't notice anything open up. I hope you are correct about the crowds!





So as far as releasing more FPs, what do we do just watch the boards and check the site? I am guessing its not announced in any formal way.

We're in the Eastern Time Zone, so it was 7am here and just made him a little late for work. There is no way that I would have had him help at 4 am! I gave him tutorials and written directions ahead of time, warned him of the likelihood of site issues, and told him to ignore any words that may come out of my mouth.

I have a way of checking fastpass availabilty with Touring Plans. I hate to say this but there are no FP available for FOP until 8/7. On 8/7 there are no morning FP for FOP but start at 3:50 pm and on 8/8 FOP start after 1:15pm, 8/9 plenty after 12:25. The day you want 8/10 plenty after 12:25 pm but none before that.
On 8/9 there are plenty of Slink Dog starting at 8:45 am

Lucky! Thanks for checking! I ended up grabbing FOP on 8/10 (our departure day) at 12:10 because I didn't want to change up our entire vacation for one ride. Our flight isn't until 7 pm so figure we will have plenty of time even if we take Magical Express back to MCO. I was also able to move Boma to earlier that morning for breakfast.

Slinky was plentiful this morning! I was pleasantly surprised. So was 7DMT.

Dont give up hope on FOP earlier in your trip though. I tried for my first day which was July 29th and there were none at all. A few days ago they added a bunch so I got to switch my AK day back to the 29th. Oh and just checked SDMT on 8/8 plenty available starting at 10:40am
