FP crackdowns???

All this talk about using a FP after the window makes me ask -- am I the *only one* who uses mine the minute the window opens? If it says "enter between 10:05 and 11:05," I'm standing there at 10:04 and as soon as the clock switches, I show it to the CM and head in. If I got a fastpass, it's to a ride I want to do, so I'm doing it as soon as the FP lets me.

Nope - you aren't the only one. I'm the one standing behind you to enter at 10:05 too. To show you how clueless I am, it didn't even cross my mind to enter later until I read some threads on here about it! I just follow what the paper says.

You can't really control the time on your FP, so what if you walked up to Soarin', the only passes left were between 6-7 and you have an ADR during that time? Do you skip your favorite ride because the FP was during your dinner?

I think thats the main reason Disney sort of leaves this whole issue open ended.

OK. I know I am going to regret this post later, since the FP discussions typically don't end well. But here it goes anyways.

One of the 1st lessons I learned in law school was that you never, and I mean never, use the word please when you are trying to establish rules, contracts, make "requests," etc. Why? Well, the very use of the word implies that whatever you are requesting or stating is somehow optional. (Sort of like what the definition of what "is" is). Yes it is a way of being polite, however some people will assume that you are merely making a request and nothing more. I doubt that the disney lawyers would use please if they were attempting to establishing a hard and fast rule. My honest take on the matter is that if it were an absolute no-no then it would clearly state that entry is not allowed on any other day, at any time before the printed time, and at any time after the printed time.

Having some people use their FPs past the printed time is unlikely to cause mass anarchy within the parks. From lurking around these boards for awhile now, that honor (according to some) would go to the tour groups.

Does this mean I do it? Well not intentionally. It may occasionally happen, but never more than 10-15 minutes outside of my window because I want to ride rides.

I think Soarin has to more careful than other attractions, because it is low capacity and high demand. I think the lines back up not so much due to late FP, but the simple fact that it is a long show with only 3 theaters (I think someone please correct me if I'm wrong).

I have used fastpasses many times after the window. Why? Because it is allowed. When cast members start enforcing the timeframe across the board, then the word will spread and people will either show up during their window or not at all.

I agree with this - there are many issues that can cause you to be late that you may have no contol over (i.e. end up in another attractions line for a long time because it breaks down). Also, as another poster mentioned, Disney would rather have you lesiurely spending money rather than spending all your time worrying about FP times. And (this the is lawyer in me) Disney really doesn't want the the liability issues connected with people running all over to meet the fast past deadlines. All things considered, I really don't see Disney instituting any kind of hard and fast rule disallowing late returns. If you are ever denied admittance with a late FP, it is probably best just to come back in 15 minutes or so when the CM has changed.

I'm with Sleepin' Becca on this one. It does say "Please enter between...", and also makes the point to say "Cannot accept early arrivals." but makes no mention of late arrivals, only that the FP must be used on the date printed. Maybe the newer FP's are worded differently?

The only place where I'd like to use them later than the window (and have) is Soarin'. It's because I get them in the morning, and then they're for an afternoon slot, and I'm somewhere in the middle of WS, not anywhere near Soarin'.

However, I'm personally fine if they turn me away and I can't ride Soarin'. I don't love it that much, which is why I wouldn't wait an hour for it. However, I might need to make different plans this year, since I'll be with my parents, and they do really like it.

There are 2 sides (theaters), and each side has 3 sections with 3 rows each. Most rows hold 11 people, so almost 100 people per theater go at a time.

How exactly do you accomplish this if you have to wait a certain amount of time (usually 2 hours) before getting another FP for another attraction??

If you're there at rope drop and obtain a set of FP's right away, your next FP oppourtunity will usually be around 10:00 am or just after. Then another set a bit after 12:00. If you leave the park by lunch or just after, you could have at least three sets of FP's.

Well, short of taking a lawyer to the park with me, to interpret the contract spelled out on the FP, my reading is that you WILL NOT be admitted early. They WANT you to return between the times posted (hence, the "please"). It leaves open the possibility, however, that you might be admitted later than the end of your FP window (for example, if the ride went down for the hour prior to your FP entry window, thereby stranding all THOSE FP holders in the FP line). But there is no guarantee that you'll be admitted later than your window.

My guess is that all the publicity about selling FPs, and the attendant discussion about whether or not you can expect to get into the FP line after your window has expired, forced Management to tell CMs to enforce those windows.

I think the point that was trying to be made was it would say:

Entry is not allowed on any other day, at any time before the printed time, and at any time after the printed time.

As a whole. That statement makes it clear that the time of entry is only valid between the times on the front of the ticket.

However that isn't what the ticket says.

I think its very clear that there is no rule against using the fast past after the time printed on the ticket. I think for many of the reasons stated in this thread, its is not in Disney's interest to enforce the time cut off rule.

Well aware. It says 2 out of the 3 I listed. It says that it can only be used on the day printed. And it says it cannot be used before the time printed. So, my point was if they were trying to create a hard and fast rule, it would also say cannot be used after the time printed.
