FP+ and staying up until midnight

FWIW- I have two separate onsite stays booked. One at the start of our trip and one at the end (we are staying at WBC in the middle). We are going to EPCOT on the Monday before Easter. I booked FPs for that day on Day 55 and both Test Track and Soarin showed availability. We were able to get what we wanted at the times that we want. We are going to MK on Holy Saturday (day before Easter) and booked it on Day 60 (not at midnight but that morning) and there was lots of availability for 7DMT. I couldn't book Epcot and MK on the same day b/c of the weird way we booked our resort reservations and bought park tickets. Anyway, just letting you know that there was 7DMT availability without staying up until midnight.

It's an odd system that gives an advantage to people who live in Hawaii. Why can't they change this to noon eastern?

That would probably require a lot of people to have to do it from work, which could be a problem.

Eh. Do it over lunch. How can that be worse than midnight? By way of example, these Boards are far more active during the work day than at night. What's that tell you?:rolleyes1

I just did ours - 60 days out. I had all the intentions of staying till 12-1 to do our FPs and I couldn't make it. I ended up doing it about 8/8:30am Sunday morning. There were lots of times left for A&E and Mines! I was nervous I wouldn't have been able to get any, but we got our choice. I got these for 4/4.

Good Luck!

I remember staying up until midnight to get my Anna and Elsa FP+ to surprise my little sister for her birthday. I was tired the next day, but we had a lot of fun meeting the two. It's a labor of love, you feel me?

Noon eastern isn't going to be lunch time for other time zones, some people don't have computer access at work (not everyone works in an office), site could be blocked (I've seen some odd site-blocks - not that the sites themselves were weird, just that I thought it was weird that those sites were blocked.)

Even making it 10pm est instead of midnight would be nice, and would still be post work day on the west coast too.

Because then people would complain that the window opened during the workday. I think it's fair that it opens when the calendar changes where Disney is located.

You don't have to book mine train right at your 60 day window. You could easily wake up in the morning and get it.

We're AP's so we book ours 30 days out. Ever since about December I haven't had any troubles securing Mine train passes for our group.

Ana and Elsa is another story, but luckily we don't care to get that. So Ana and Elsa is the only thing I'd be trying to get midnight at your 60 day window.

This is good to know! It changes so quickly, my experience from a couple months ago is outdated. Glad to hear you're having plenty of luck at 30 days.

That very much depends on the length and time of your stay.

For our 4 day trip in November for the wine and dine 1/2 marathon, all SDMT were gone for my entire stay by 12:05am.

Eta: I'm not trying to be alarmist, and I recognize things could be different now. However, if a sdmt fp+ were imperative for a family, I would try to get it at midnight to assure I definitely would get that fp. If it isn't a big deal to get it or not, then I'd wait til.morning.

We will be doing as split stay.Half of our stay on site and other half off site. We will have 8 in our party for 1/2 of our stay. Then 2 more are joining us mid-week. I know I can get fast passes for the 8 of us at the 60 day window. But not really sure how to add the other two when they join us mid-week since we will all be staying off-site at that point.

We are staying offsite in March and I have been staying up til midnight to book our FP+. I've done the last three nights and have two more to go. :faint: I am tired but so far I've had pretty good luck. We stayed onsite in November and it wasn't so bad staying up the one night but it's a lot worse having to do it day by day for the length of the trip offsite.

Then pick something else. ADRs are 6:00 a.m. People act as if midnight is some sort of necessary and logical starting point when in fact it is simply arbitrary.

"Fair" isn't the issue. Each and every hour of the day would be "fair" as long as the system goes live for every person in the world at the same time. 2:00 a.m. would be "fair" as would 6:00 a.m., as would 8:00 a.m.. We can sit around and play the "some people work the third shift", "some people don't have computers at home", "some people don't have computers at work" game all we want. The bottom line is that having people do this at midnight is just plain stupid. The vast majority of WDW guests come from the eastern and central time zones. Yet the FP booking window favors people in the Pacific Time Zone and in Rome. How does that make any sense?

Even making it 10pm est instead of midnight would be nice, and would still be post work day on the west coast too.
Ahhhh. Someone who thinks logically!!

The SDMT is the number one attraction for all members in our family to experience on this trip. With it being the right after Easter I think I will stay up tonight to make sure we get it!

Be aware, sometimes the window doesn't open at midnight (12am). It has been know to open at 1am (which was the case for me. Stayed up till midnight...nadda. Window opened right at 1am). At that time I was booking for the end of September. I took 7DMT luckily right away , because the whole system crashed right after that. No idea when it reopened, but by 7am when I logged back on to move that 7DMT to a better time there were NONE left. I stalked the site for 60 days and never found another FP+ for mine train for any time that day I needed. Others have reported better luck.

Tonight my fast pass plus window begins at midnight I believe. Do I really have to stay up until midnight to get the mine train! I am more of an early riser been a night owl! I am dreading staying up until midnight on a work night.

considering that you'll be there at a very busy time yeah you're gonna need to stay up until midnight and make your selections if you want the most popular like 7DMT.

personally it doesn't bother me cuz i am a night owl. i'll be making mine next week.

Hi all....glad this thread is here. I am also getting ready for my midnight rendezvous tonight. But I just wanted to be sure that in MDE, the calendar will indeed open up for April 4 (check in day)...right now, only showing you can choose FP up to March 4. Does this make sense to anyone? hope i am explaining correctly.

thnx

As far as MDE is concerned, your 60 day window won't open until midnight. So all it shows you right now is the 30 day availability. It'll open. No worries.
