Last time I rode KS, there was a large group of 20-something males laughing and bragging to each other about being able to get into the FP+ line even though they didn't have Fast Passes. I actually watched one of the guys pretend to swipe his MB even though he wasn't even wearing one! Obviously, the CM wasn't exactly paying attention. I figured they'd probably get caught at the end, usually there's a second FP+ location just before you get on the ride, but sadly there wasn't that day. And before anyone asks "Well, why didn't you report them?", I'm a retired lady on an ECV, traveling solo. I'll be darned if I'm running any risk angering a group of young, healthy males. But it did kind of bother me, and I've never seen this happening before. Just wondering-has anyone else? CMs really need to be more vigilant.

A few hrs ago a couple stepped over the rope into the FP line at splash in front of me and my daughter. She was furious. When we got to the end where the second tap was my daughter tattled to the CM. They weren’t using second tap but the CM had hem tap. They didn’t have FP. They made up some crazy story so she finally waved them on. My daughter was furious and it was made worse because they got the coveted front seat. My daughter was literally angry about it for years. She wouldn’t let it go. I told her there were more important things in life to worry about than this but she held on to it forever. I bet she mentions it this summer when we are there again.

Yep, we have a story that still angers us if we think of it.

A few years back, a couple in front of us at the splash mountain fastpass line scanned their bands. The cm told them they did not have fast passes for the ride. They literally ran into the fastpass line, laughing. The cm let them go.

We were so hoping that karma was going to get them at the second check point. Only to find out that Disney had removed the second touch pads.

They got away with it :(

Yeah, some people are going to do stuff like this. For me, it's just not worth worrying about or letting it infringe on my good time. The general Disney policy is to not really argue about it too much, which I agree with. In the end, is it worth confronting guests to the point that they are making a scene, possibly yelling or worse in front of the rest of the guests? It's better to ask, let them play dumb or whatever, explain how it works to them and let them go on their way. Yes, some people will abuse a policy like that. I'm not one of them, and I think most people aren't. The impact on my is negligible so I won't concern myself with it. As someone mentioned, karma can get them later.

Karma is a ***** and one day these people will get whats coming for being dishonest

KARMA! BAH!!! I say pull them out of the park by their ankles, kicking and screaming. It makes for a good example.

I have never seen this happened and these stories are upsetting to me. I absolutely think that Disney should have a way of dealing with people who try to cheat and make a fuss about it which is NOT just letting them get away with it because that's "easier."

They do have security guards at FOP to prevent issues like this on busy days now so they’re trying to deal with the issue, at least on bigger attractions.

We saw this on our trip in March. We were in the Peter Pan FP line and suddenly a group of 8-10 people appeared in front of us. They’d hopped the ropes to join their party member who was in line. Shortly after a CM came and removed them all from the line. I guess only one person in their group had a FP and they all tried to get in on it. They tried to say they didn’t realize that’s not how it works but it was quite obvious they knew exactly what they were doing. :sad2:

Last month, a woman pushed us out of the way as she scooted past the FP reader without scanning at the entrance to BTMRR. She tried the 'I didn't realize this was the FP line' but the CM wasn't buying it. We were happy to see that she didn't get away with it.

I've seen more CM's deal with it then not, when they see it.

To clarify, CMs will say something if they see it, politley pointing out the "mistake," but it won't go much further than that. Most people will just back down when called on it, but if they don't, the CMs will defuse rather than escalate. They would ratehr just let them "get away with it" than start a screaming match in front of the otehr guests. Disney would prefer to minimize that.

I don't think CM's are really given any power. That said, it'd be nice to see CM's have some power when it comes to things like this. Sure, it's not something that should ruin a day, but if you're standing at the back of a long line and people who you see don't have FP's just go up to "be with their family/group" then hop the rope and run on, you want to see something done.

ETA: The title to this thread is very misleading. It has nothing to do with abuse of FP's, more the lack of CM power to right the wrongs from line jumping.

Absolutely - to be clear, I am not blaming individual CMs - I said "Disney" should do more about this, which means supporting and empowering CMs in doing so.

I hate with a burning passion those people who think they don't have to abide by the rules. I would much rather see them kicked out / remove their other FPs / some type of consequence that BS. People think they are entitled to do whatever they want with no regard for others are the lowest life forms.

There are always these types of people young and old. And yes it is annoying, frustrating and very disappointing when a CM is aware and still does nothing.

Happened to us on our recent visit when multiple guests alerted the CM and a Supvr that happened there ( inside Mexico pavilion ride).
He also did nothing despite a group that literally jumped the ropes and while making a very very loud scene, and got on the boat ride. People were flabbergasted!
I asked for and secured both the Supv and CM names and noted the date and time.
The kids literally were Screaming...LOUD, which caused an additional issue for us and I do intend to bring it to the attention of Disney..
( though I know nothing will come of it, I’ll feel better alerting..they need to know that despite not Choosing their Guests , they Are responsible for all our safety and perhaps cm’s need additional training on how to deal with Unruly, unsafe behaviors ( and rule breaking) guests that impact other guests experience. It’s not just about losing a spot in line, that’s the least of it..

Last time I went on Kali River Rapids they had an awful problem with people cutting into the FP+ line. To the point where the FP+ line had a relatively long wait. They sent a CM to the second place to scan their Magicbands and my whole party watched as huge groups of people would have the checkpoint (for lack of a better word) flash blue instead of green, meaning that their Magicband wasn't valid. The CM just let them through. It was super annoying to see these people get away with it.

This other story doesn't have to do with people cutting into the FP+ line but it still involves the FP+ line in a way. Last January I was down with two other people and we were going onto Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. It was a pretty busy day so they had extended the queue. We kept watching people skip the extended part of the line by just unclipping the chain right next to a CM who was busy scanning people's fastpasses. The CM was clearly overwhelmed and didn't notice but it was really aggravating. When my party got close to the end of the extended part of the queue I got really annoyed and said something to a family who was trying to cut the line. Just a simple "The line goes that way first." and just loud enough that the castmember could hear me. The party just walked away. About 5 minutes later we saw them probably about 7 parties behind us. It was just aggravating that in the end they got away with it AND they knew what they were doing. I've seen people cutting lines so much and realized that typically the CM doesn't even notice so I always try to say something as politely as possible because it's awful that people would do something like that.
