I thought I heard Brian on Fox & Friends say something about Fox News now being available at WDW Resorts (or will be shortly) - but I didn't really catch the context. Is this true? I haven't been able to find anything about it online.

Fox News wasn't available when we recently visited and isn't now according to the info. on allears.net, but I also have heard that it is coming. I would welcome it! WDW already has a couple of CNN channels and MSNBC (the latter of which is way more biased than Fox, which of course is right leaning, as our NY Times friend has clearly observed), so Fox News is a smart idea. Let's make room for people with different opinions in The Happiest Place on Earth.

Honestly, cable news in general makes me ill. Fox just happens to make ill-er, but I can't really stand any of them. I feel like cable news does more to kill brain cells than any illicit drug.

I keep either Stacy's "Must Dos" or the Park hours channel on when I'm at Disney. It's not much of an escape if you turn the TV on and find the same old talking heads yelling at each other... but that's just my opinion.

Several new channels were added in the last week and it was one of them. Here's the new one's added on January 13.

Fox News
Bravo
AMC
National Geographic
TBS
TNT
Travel Channel
WE TV
SyFy
Discovery
Bio
HGTV
TLC
History
Food Network
TVLand

disney has always wanted to offer immersive and fantastic worlds of fantasy to children of all ages, shapes, and sizes...regardless of their iq

So the addition of Fox News is well inline with that:cool1:

on a serious note (i'll pretend like what i said before was joking...yeah, right)

It looks as though Disney has finally relented a little and is offering more in the rooms on the tvs...guess they want those dvc flat panels to be used more...

Of course, another obvious disney policy was to not offer anything on the tv...because if you're watching tv you're NOT in the giftshop...which is the whole point.
But i guess they've given up that policy a little...just as they've started to relent on wifi...

They'll lose revenue from me based on tv...cause i was so turned off by their service that i'd go to the bar for 9.50 mai tais in the afternoon instead of doing what i wanted to do...which is nap, of course.

its only a matter of time before WDresorts are offering cutting edge 2006 service to all who come...for a modest rate increase - of course

Wait...still no Nickelodeon?

Not to interupt the mocking of people with different taste and opinions, but...

Just out of curiousity, where did you find the list of channels?

Thanks for answering my original question.

not to be argumentative...

but this is EXACTLY why both FoxNews and MSNBC should be mocked...as well as cnn to a lesser extent.

They are not as advertised...it should be Fox____ and MS_BC

because the news is not a grey area, it is black and white. we can interpret the consequences of the news...not the facts themselves, they are what they are.

i have no problem with tastes and opinions...but you can't see the "news" in the crawl and be silly enough to think that is what you're getting. Even Rupert Murdoch ( a billionaire australian who has shown outward disdain for the lower class throughout his comments and printed material for decades) has acknowledge the koolaid he's pouring...

and that is how our media has failed...and it has done so due to politics that ultimately lead to money...

So back to disney...a place that isn't about the money at all.

To answer the question though...i did find this summary of the annual DVC meeting in december that mentioned new cable channels among other things:

More resort TV channels and other news from DVC meeting
The announcement of the Grand Floridian Villas was not the only news coming out of the Disney Vacation Club Condominium Association meeting. New DVC General Manager Claire Bilby had plenty of news for DVC members.

New cable TV channels will be available starting in January 2012. The lineup will vary by location (Hilton Head, Vero Beach, Walt Disney World, Disneyland), but all locations will be getting History Channel, Food Network, and Fox News. Since Walt Disney World is not likely to run multiple television lineups within the resort, it is likely that these channels will become available to all guests at all Walt Disney World resorts, whether DVC or not.

They've been posted on many sites. Just made a list for myself.

I do agree that cable news is pretty tiresome and not what we go to Disney for. I like tos ee the Must Do stuff also, but after many days of it it's nice for a change, so more variety'll be nice if we want to watch briefly.

Another question begs, now that they are offering something akin to a true basic cable service, and not just "Disney-owned+locals+informercials"...are any of them in HD? I found it amusing that you can have a flat panel HDTV in the room, but nothing to actually WATCH on it beyond the low quality video that looked bad on the tubes...

Bingo but they are not as bad ad network news. I hate FN and in a major Conservitive.

Man, I surely hope so. I'm tired of watching the left wing {MSNBC. CNN, etc.} stations in the rooms. :thumbsup2
