Fourth Grade PARP book?

I am scheduled to be a reader in my DD class tomorrow... I know they are into the WImpy Kid books- but can anyone suggest an alternative for me to read? This is a tough age to please!

The 39 Clues series is a lot of fun and I have to second Judy Blume. The Mysterious Benedict Society was a great read. Maybe Ralph Mouse by Beverly Cleary?

DH read Tales of Beedle the Bard (or at least some of it - I don't know if he read the whole thing) to DD's 4th grade class.

I teach 4th. grade and also recommend Sideway Stories. I don't know how long you are planning on reading to them but the chapters are very short
