Not the “epic” news that would upstage Disney at D23. Nothing to get excited about. We all new they were building a new park, all we got was the name, which to me sounds a bit odd.

Huh? Did you see the concept art? This is way bigger than anything at D23.

Most people, unless they followed theme parks closely, had no idea the new park was happening as it was just a rumor. This confirmed it. Anyway it's pretty ovious this conference was more about announcing it so it could unblock government agencies for required city/county infrastructure (Which is why the mayor and governor were there). It's equivalent to Walt Disney announcing Walt Disney World in downtown Orlando with the Florida Governor after it was rumored (and it was definitely heavily rumored before that) back in 1965, and that announcement had even less detail than this conference did.

Not only that, but while a lot of us knew they were building a park, a lot of the general public had no idea. So, while to us the news was anti-climatic, this was massive news to the everyone else.

I just hope they get Haggrids working correctly by then. I was just reading a couple of accounts saying it was down again most of Wed.
