Four y/o not using right leg all of a sudden--Need input!!**UPDATE** on Pg 2

Taylor was 4 last spring..and she had a cold for a week or so..the following week..all of a sudden, she couldn't stand on either of her legs..this happened while she was in preschool..the teacher called her parents who brought her to the dr immediately..did all kinds of tests with no conclusive results..she resorted to crawling for almost a week..then , just as suddenly as it had occurred..it was gone..she could stand and was fine..the dr's final diagnosis was that it must have been some weird side effect of the cold she had!..to this day..we still have no real evidence of what could have caused it..but thankfully she is fine!

When my oldest DD was about 6 she started limping. The Dr sent us to an orthopedic, they xrayed her entire body but really didn't find anything. We kept her on Motrin for an extended time a month or more and it finally went away. Dr said it was probably an inflamation but those don't always show well on xray.

My ds went through that when he was 6 yo. The dr just told us it could be growing pains that was causing the pain. As long as he could prop his leg up, he was ok, but if he stood on it, he would scream in pain.

I hope your ds gets to feeling better soon.

And put pressure on his leg! Now is limping, but getting a bit braver. Doctor said it could be a virus...they affect kids in weird ways.

I'm sure your son is recovering, but this happened to my neighbor's son a few years back and was a serious infection, requiring IV antibiotics, so keep an eye on him.

Oooh, guess that would have shown up in the bloodwork. Hope he doesn't get the flu.
