Four Sisters & a Nephew ~ June 2009 ~ TR w/Pics

Ten days left to go. Today I was making my reservations for our airport transfers and SeaWorld trip but I am still finding it hard to get motivated. I have not put together my LGMH’s, made my Jedi Training sign for my nephew, or done any packing.

How is it possible that I can start planning every detail 18 months out but when it gets down to the last week or so I just loose it all together? I do not remember being this way on our last trip. I have everything I need in nice unorganized piles all over the place but can’t seem to drum up the energy to put it all to rights. I am thinking that maybe I need a good smack.

It could be that this is my first trip where I do not have to worry about packing for anyone but me. When you have kids to take care of you are on top of everything but now that it is just me I have gotten all sorts of lazy.

OK. I need a plan. Tomorrow I WILL put together LGMH’s. Period. Consider it done. If I have not posted pictures of said heads by midnight pst on June 11th someone please send an internet “kick in the pants” my way. I need help.

Ok, I'm a bit early, but here's a motivational kick in the pants. And a Don't Worry because I haven't done anything either. Although I will start to pack a bit this weekend I think. I have been busy though, and I have an exam tonight, but then I'll be free and clear. I have to make some PS, book our alcatraz tour for SF and our trolley tour for SD, print out all the hotel info, get my dad to show me how to use his GPS, buy some travel groceries, and pack. And I keep making little notes all over the place about things to not forget, ie. razor... hairy legs and pits on vacation are not a pleasant idea! Since we're going to be gone for 2 weeks we need all those silly things.

Thank you for the little push as I almost came up with an excuse, any excuse, to put this off. That reminds me... I need to place my grocery order with Vons.

After putting way too much time into this little project I decided to go for "finished" rather than super creative (which I am not). So here it is. The lighting is terrible in my living room for picture taking but it is a little dark outside to get the much needed natural light.

This is a sign I made to put up at HoJo's. Maybe in the window.

These are the bag tags to go on my lime green Baggallini.

A close up of the tags. I had to do some contrasting paper because my bag is lime green.

and a Mickey that I made with my Cricut just for fun.

So, one small project is done and the next "thing to do" is start packing. I have several things that can go in the suitcase now so I suppose I should put them in before the cats find them. They may think my piles of clothes are a nice bed just for them.

If you don't consider yourself "super creative" you are selling yourself way short! I love your tags!!! The sincerest form of flattery--I'm copying it! Hope that's o.k. :thumbsup2 Also, your non-negotiable rule makes super sense!:thumbsup2 What a wonderful unofficial auntie you are! :thumbsup2 Hope you will be posting lots of trip pictures. Have a great trip!

Welcome to my pre-trip, thanks for stopping by. You are very kind regarding the tags. :goodvibes Feel free to copy anything. I guess I am always comparing myself to my mother who would spend days making it perfect with little do-dads and such. I have to remind myself to keep it fun to do or don't do it.

Adults gave me a hard time about the "rule" in the early years but my kids who are now 23 & 25 remember the rule fondly.

It is my hope to be very disciplined on taking good pictures so I can make a scrapbook for Benj. I will come here and share when I get home. I have never taken pictures of food before so that may feel a little strange but I do love looking at the food porn here so I will do my best.

I love your crafts! Nice and simple is more my style. But you're inticing me to get a cricut, and for that I don't thank you!

I will keep an eye out for the sign! My DH is too shy to attract attention to himself with signs etc. But you've seen our wedding photos, so keep an eye out for us, and say Hi!

Awesome Tags Kay. Love the little grommits! Not creative, pishaw!

Thank you. I was hoping to write my DIS name on the LGMH's but my handwriting is so bad and I could not come up with a better way to do it. So I did the separate tags that say DIS WA Kay.

I am very sorry about the "Cricut" enabling (not :) ). I love my Cricut but to be honest, I do not use it enough. I got it because I started scrap booking but after the initial blast of scrapping I lost interest. My problem is that when the weather gets nice it is very hard to be inside. Our sunny days are kind of rare and I love to be outside so scrapping takes a back seat.

I understand about your husband not wanting to hang DIS tags on himself as mine is the same way. He would be mortified. He is not anti-social just shy about those things. But since this trip will just be us girls and a 9 year old boy who could care less I may "tag away".

I will be on the lookout to say hi. You can't miss me as I am very Pooh sized, late 40's, straight brown hair, and dress is loud bright colors on Disney trips. We found out years ago that the kids can find me much easier in a crowd if I have bright colors on. Have a safe and fun trip down.

Ditto this, I love the grommits! Where did you get them?

Thanks. I got them at JoAnn Fabrics but it is something you can find anywhere that sells scrapbooking supplies. You do need a little tool to set them but it is fun to use them.

Love it so far - can't wait to read more! Best Wishes for a wonderful trip and following of the rule!:cheer2:

Thanks. I am getting pretty excited. I called my Nephew tonight just to talk a pre-trip "yah" and he is about ready to pop. :)

Oh the wonderful rule. This trip will be the first real test for the rule. I may have to ground my sister to the hotel room for not following the rule.

We leave in the morning and I am pretty excited. :cool1: I may actually finish packing soon and get to bed at a decent hour. My hope is to start my trip report a couple of days after getting home.

I will miss coming here to DIS but I have made the decision to stay away from the computer while on vacation. I will miss you all. See you soon.

Have a great time! I'll keep my eye out for you at HOJO and in the parks. I won't arrive til the 24th though :)
