Four Seasons Resort

old quote >
The resort expansion, announced last year, will include the Four Seasons hotel, fractional ownership vacation homes, custom single- and multi-family vacation homes

just wondering if part of four seasons plot went back to golden oak, and what acreage is left after hotel and golf course.

and very surprised disney doesnt want the rental revenue.

It's very difficult to say what "went back", considering we don't know the exact details of the original plan, but as PortMickey says, it appears that Four Seasons backed off on the fractional ownership homes (if they were ever truly involved - but the old docs seemed to indicate it was so) and go with just the hotel, so Disney, who may have already de-annexed the lot, spun it into their own residential property.

I'm not even sure how the golf course fits in to the property any more.

I believe the 180 day rule may be some legal requirement to show that they are proper residences and not timeshares.

Just wondering how many homes are in the construction phase?

What percentage of lots have been sold so far?

I just don't get why Disney is dragging in third-party hotels to their property when they could build their own hotels on this land.:confused3

This is the "new" Disney. They don't run the restaurants, either. Heck, they don't even build their own animatronics anymore.

Disney is not a premium hotel brand to some people, particularly wealthy baby-boomers who travelled quite a bit during their careers. Bringing in a hotel brand that wealthy travelers are familiar with will bring more of them on-property.

I don't know about that.

There is already premium offsite hotels. If these guests want premium family entertainment they can still use those hotels and go to WDW each day to play, shop and eat.

But that's exactly why Disney wanted an on-site resort from a well-known luxury brand.

When guests stay off-site at a luxury resort like the Waldorf-Astoria Orlando (at Bonnet Creek) or the Ritz-Carlon (at Grande Lakes), Disney only makes money from park tickets and a few meals and incidentals.

Walt Disney acquired more than 27 thousand acres (at a few hundred dollars per acre) because of his ambitious plans for EPCOT (the city, not the theme park). Today's Disney Company is looking for opportunities to turn excess property into money.

With the Four Seasons project, Disney saw an opportunity to monetize some of their extensive, underutilized property. Also, an on-site luxury property would add more status and respectability to the entire Walt Disney World Resort.

Now, the Four Seasons resort project is either on indefinite hold or it's dead.
