Four O'Clocks

My friend gave me just 2 four O'clock plants. I put them in the corner next to my front stoop and they have filled in that entire area. I love them, they are just beautiful. The only downside is that they are only open in the late evening and early morning. My question is, can you think of any other plants that have that same habit and easy care. I want to plant something else with them for next year. It's a new bed and there is definitely room for many more plants. I have to do some moving around because I had no real plan for it. I just put things in it. My thoughts are that it will eventually become a cottage garden.

Zinnias give some long lasting color. It's a nice annual.

That's another beautiful picture! I do agree that zinnias are a wonderful addition to your garden, mine are blooming now also! They are great to pick and keep in your house. There's someone called "The Flower Lady" in Cape May who has a lot filled with mostly zinnias and she sells them for about $2 a bunch.

I also like snapdragons, a lot!

I tried zinnias a few times and they always got moldy. Maybe it's not warm enough here?

In olden times a lot of plants were nicknamed after the time they opened, which helped the people tell time who didn't have clocks and/or watches. Four O'Clocks are a reminder of that era. We had a lot of fun with them as kids, since the seeds are so easy to harvest, and they reseed for the next year so easily.
