Ok, I just looked into the citypass. DH said since it is good for 9 days, we could do NY for 2 Sundays in a row. I don't think DH wants to actually go to the Statue of Liberty but he does want to see it. Whoever would have thought planning a day trip would be stress inducing. :lmao: A week in Disney, no problem. One day in NY and I am freaking out.

:yay: :yay: I'm back!!!! Can someone give me a recap, I can't make it thorough everything you guys did for a while, and would like to know what is going on around here......

My trip went as well as something like that can. My mum seems ok, and her sister in law was really kind to her. I got a nasty cold from the plane, and was stuck in Chicago for about 3 hours......

Welcome back MSP! Glad to see you made it back safely. Sorry about your cold. Plenty of fluids and vitamin C!

Hmm...I'm not really good at the recaps. A lot of us are battling sickness too, whgrn has had a dental saga, we've been discussing both Universal and the lack of fashion taste that people have like posting things on their rear. I'm sure someone else will be able to sum it up much better than that!

Brrr it's cold out there!! Temp here is around -12*C which is around 3*F but the windchill has it at -25*C :scared1:

At least the snow has let up so the kids have school.:cool1:

MSP - Welcome back...I think MK just about covered it except she leaving for the Phils in a couple of days.

NYC sounds great...never been there, maybe one of these days.

Took longer than I thought to catch up, so I'll just comment real quick and try to get back to it later.

lighttech, How did the rest of your day go? Did you get some sleep? I got so excited today. DH was telling me that tomorrow he has to go some help guy who is putting a new roof next to one of the tv studios down your way. He couldn't remember which one so he starts rattling off CBS, NBC and I'm yelling QVC to him. Finally he laughs and says it just some news studio. MEN!!! I would have dragged my butt out of bed at 4am just to go with him.

M&N, welcome back!!! Are you getting ready for the deep freeze? And stop bringing up those Eagles. I have to hear it enough from my dad.
Caught a quick nap anyway, and I'm home today w/ DS. We decided to send BL to school anyway. I haven't had any "special time" w/ DS since the baby, and he's pretty miserable, so he could use it. Of course, BL decided not to sleep at all last night, but it might be a great day for snuggling on the couch w/ movies.
You guys could always come down and take the QVC Studio Tour (Yes, we have one! :rotfl: If you do it on a day I work, I could try and bring you down to the backstage areas AND get to meet you!)
Go Eagles!
I'm going to a Hershey Bears hockey game instead of watching the game. I had the ticket first. One friend is not going because she would rather watch the Eagles. When they loose, they can blame me for giving up on them!
GO EAGLES!!! Just had to add one... Holding my breath for this weekend, we'll see...
Ok Tkers, I need your help. DH just sprung on me last night that he wants to go see the Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero and various other parts of NYC before we move. :scared1: Last night out of the blue. :headache: I've been telling him for years that we should go and the answer has always been no. I haven't been to NYC since I was in 8th grade and that was a school trip. I am so clueless. We would only drive up for the day or overnight at the most. I know you all had suggestions for Pikester but her trip sounds like it would be alot longer. I think DH just wants to see the highlights but any other suggestions would be helpful.
I LOVE NY! But, honestly, I love it a lot for the atmosphere just wandering around and the food. I took the train up once from Philly and found that very relaxing. You need to walk thru Time Square for the experience. And, if you need restaurant suggestions, let me know. I have a few favorites.

Welcome back. Sorry to hear about the cold. Hope you are feeling better and I hope everything went as well as can be expected. Hugs to you and your Mom.

Ok, gotta run and take care of my poor little guy. (Mickey Mouse Club House is almost over... :) )

The tooth is coming out TOMORROW MORNING!!!

WooHoo!! Just have to survive another 24 hours and it's OUTTA HERE!

Morning!!! Wicked cold here and we haven't even gotten the worst of it yet.

Magikitty, you are so lucky to be getting out of this frozen tundra that is becoming the NE. I hope you'll be thinking of us while we are all sitting here freezing our fannies off.

MSP, welcome back!!! I'm glad things went ok for you and your mom. Not much has been happening around here as you can see. Magikitty summed it up nicely. There is talk of a Tker meet over the summer. Nothing definite but we are working on it.

lighttech, a tour of the studios. Hmmm  I'll have some leverage with DH since he wants to take this trip to NYC. I'll have to bring it up to him. Restaurant recommendation would be great when you have some time. What's a trip to NY without some great food.

Ev, sending you some :sunny: since I think you need it more than I do.

Just got an idea....For our TKer meet, Racetrack can design some 'killer' shorts with TKer Rule on the butt!

OMG Ev, you're colder than I am! And here I was complaining about my 9 degree weather (I don't know the translation to Canadian temp....I know, silly American). I just know that it is COLD COLD. Like it makes you want to cry its so cold and just thinking about going out is just too much.

Makes me appreciate that I'm leaving TOMORROW night! Of course, its supposed to be even colder tomorrow....

lighttech, you have no idea how excited your news of a QVC tour made me! I LOVE to take tours of places! I'm putting that down on my list for my Pennsylvania adventure!

Yeah! Wendy's tooth is going bye-bye tomorrow!

TK meet at QVC??? Count me in. I can drive there! Is the Byers Choice place near there?

Today, I will merely respond with smileys to tell my story.

My husband David Cook has come to his senses. Despite rumours of a purchase of a 2 carat Tiffany engagement ring, David and that girl have broken up, apparently before Christmas. I'll let him grieve for a while, I don't want to be his rebound girl. Oh, who are we kidding? If he wants to rebound me, then he can rebound me all he wants. :thumbsup2
:rotfl2: :thumbsup2

Come on by! I generally work Saturdays, and I've never really looked into it, but I think I can get a family and friends discount on the tour tickets.

Ok, food... My all time favorite is an Italian place called Carmine's. Its Family Style, and therefore very reasonable for NY prices. Don't know how many of you are going, but the entrees serve 3 easily. You've gotta get the tirimisu for dessert... the darn thing comes in a pie plate! If you like BBQ, Virgil's is excellent. The founders traveled all over the US researching diff't BBQ styles and brought their favorite recipes back. Then there's some smaller places that are fun, including a place that only serves PB sandwiches... but crazy ones, like a PB BLT! :rotfl: DH and I did a "foodie" trip of NY one time where we researched on the Travel Channel and Food Network websites and just ate our way thru the city. How much time will you have, who will be with you, and what kind of stuff would you like? I think I may still have some stuff bookmarked in our travel books from a few places we considered visiting (anything from parks to museums to the fancy McDonald's near Wall Street - marble floors in a Mcy-D's!)

Makes me appreciate that I'm leaving TOMORROW night! Of course, its supposed to be even colder tomorrow....

Have a Wonderful Trip! And, if you do want to come to QVC, definitely let me know. We're going thru a major re-construction right now, but should be finished by February.

I will only wear them if they say
TKerZ R HOT
I'm pretty sure that you have to abbreviate things and change your "Ss" to Zs to be cool. :rotfl:

D&DDisney-Love all the smilies. Too funny.

Alright, promised DS some time on the computer. I can't believe I have to share computer time w/ a 3 year old! :rolleyes1 But, I told him he could play while I got some Christmas decorations put away (we're SO behind since I was sick) and that way we would reclaim the kitchen table from the ornaments and draw or do play-doh. Kind of guilty, but I must admit, I'm enjoying having a sick day at home w/ DS (just wish he didn't have to be sick) just the 2 of us. Its so calm w/ only one kiddie, and I know he's missed getting the individual attention. I realized we really haven't had any Mommy-DS time in a while w/o BL on my lap or needing something. (Not complaining, that's BLs job!) But, I think once in a while, I really need to make more of an effort to spend some "special time" w/ each boy.

Take care guys!

Hope everyone is surviving the cold. :cold: We, of course, are missing it. Just normal cold here.
Only time I was in NYC, I was 11 and my parents drove my Great Grandma back to her apartment one night. We were in NJ visiting my Grandparents. All I remember is a tunnel and the tall buildings. We stopped in front of her building and let her out. Went back to NJ. And that was my exciting trip to NYC. :lmao:

YAY for your tooth coming out! It was bothering you long before I left, I can only imagine:cool1: !!

Ok...sit down everyone....

MY CAR HAS BEEN RELEASED FROM CAPTIVITY!

I am too excited for words.

Alright, for the sake of my TKers, I'll post something on my rather expansive butt. My only concern is that in the summer heat, will my butt stick to things?

Lighttech...I love Carmines! Are you talking about the family style restaurant off Broadway with no menus and HUGE portions? The Flat Tkers ate there with my sister and I in November. We had the strawberry shortcake. It was as big as my head (and that's significant). My recommendation is to get whatever special they have that night. Its always been amazing.

And while you're downtown towards Ground Zero, go eat in Chinatown. Just go where they have the line outside, sure to be super yummy.

We should try for a Sat this spring. There's a QVC warehouse in Lancaster.
You are such a good mommy. I'm going to post a smilie for your DS when I finish this.

What's Byers Choice?

Those carolers...they are hand made. I saw a PCN tour about them. Looked way cool.

Ok, lighttech, you asked for it.

Yay Magikitty!!!!

I hope you would not be too upset if I did not wear that on my butt...it's big enough. :lmao:
