Four-mer TKers...4 one, 4 all, 4 ever

Hi ladies! I feel like a hit and run poster these days! I finally finished my trip report which was consuming my small amount of free computer time so maybe I will be able to drop in a little more often. Nah, something else will probably come up. Life is funny that way! Guess I better just enjoy the moment!

Thanks for all the opinions on the words on the rear question. I just needed a little reassurance that I was not the only one who doesn't understand some of the latest clothing trends. When I am out in public with lots of people I often think modesty doesn't even exist anymore. So, it's good to hear that some of you and even your children do still actually believe in modesty.

Ok, that was amazing... 10 whole minutes to myself in the morning w/ both boys.
Hmmm, this sounds so familiar! Mornings are the only time I have to myself. Is it any wonder that my internal clock has been waking me up at 6:30 lately?
I hope you have gotten warmed back up good by now! Nice introduction. Thanks I missed it before so now I am clued in on all the important stuff, right?

How do you feel about older women having long hair? Should she get it cut when she gets a certain age? Color or not to color.
Okay, just how would you define older? I guess I probably will get to fall under that category. I wore my hair in a pony tail for years after I had DD because I could not stand leaning down to her size all the time and having my hair fall in my face. Well, as I got OLDER I started thinking it was time for a change and that I was getting too old for long hair. So off with the hair! Now, I don't mind it so much but short hair is soooo much more trouble! Mine requires drying or it looks frazzled on the ends. And then you have to go so much more often for hair cuts to keep it looking nice which I absolutely hate because I despise going into beauty shops! So I suppose whether to go short depends on how much you prefer the short look or if you just want something easy to take care of.

As far as coloring. Me, I am usually a different color every few months. After getting the short cut I thought I would like to add some curl to it. HA! Worst perm I ever had! Fried my hair so I colored my poor virgin hair to help soften it up. Looks better and did the softening trick but now I am stuck having to color for life! I can't stand the thought of transitioning with a stripe down my head while waiting for the color to grow off. So again, depends on whether you prefer looks or something easy to take care of. Personally I would prefer EASY but I blew it now!

I have seen women look beautiful either way. Bottom line. It's your hair. Do what YOU like.

I'm like a T rex..useless arms but watch out for my legs!
You would be great at Jiu-Jitsu! They actually have a position they call the T-rex and what they can do with their legs is amazing!

I'm looking forward to not wearing three layers and a hat and gloves. But I do enjoy wearing boots..
When we were bundling up for one of our cold days here in Texas a few days ago I was just thinking of all of you who have been living with the COLD, COLD, COLD and all the snow and wondering if you all bundled up with layers upon layers. You have now answered my question!

Bopsmom, loved the month after Christmas ditty. Oh so true! And I liked your link to the Dutch department store. Pretty cool.

D&DDisney, Congrats on the 2000 posts!

Pikester Great singing! You had my foot tapping. I saw Grease with my very first boyfriend. BOY! Was that a long time ago!
Don't you just hate that when all your hard work is ZAPPED out into who knows where! I am getting better about copying my work before hitting any button.

whgrn I hope the tooth isn't giving you too much trouble. Now the ex on the other hand... amazing coming to you for financial help. You must have a pretty good relationship or he must be a real doosie.

Hello to anyone else I missed!

Lighttech, I'm sending you a vat of hot coffee.

MK, I'm sending you something green to match the envy in my eyes!

The rest of you, I'm sending HEAT!

Sadly, all of this is done only in my head, so it won't help worth a darn...

I was all set to go back to the gym today and take a pool class at 10:15. Only I was tired as heck when I got up to take the kids to school, and decidd to go back to bed. And slept til 11:30.

There's always tomorrow...

Evening!!! Had a lazy day today. I wanted to clean and start packing some things away but just couldn't get motivated. Maybe tomorrow. Or the next day. :lmao:

DL55, I hardly every catch you on here. What's new? Nobody should have long gray hair unless they are a hippie who doesn't realize it is now 2009 not 1969. (jk) :rotfl2: Actually it makes no difference to me how people want to wear their hair. Obviously some look better than others but if they are happy with how they look, that's good for me.

Thats what I really meant to say. :)

Grease is the time, is the place, is the motion. Grease is the way we are feeling!

Summer lovin had me a blast! Summer lovin happened so fast!

Look at me I'm Sandra Dee!

Hopelessly devoted to you, ooouuuu! Hopelessly devoted to you.

Go grease lighting your coasting down the quarter mile...Grease lighting! Go Grease lighting!

There are worse things I could do then, go with a boy or two. Even though the neighborhood thinks I'm trashy and no good, I suppose it could be true.

We go together like ramlamalama kadigkadigadong!

Look a me there has to be. Something more then what they see.

You're the one the want! You are the one I want! Ooh, Ooh ooh Honey! The one that I want!

MY FAVORITE MOVIE IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD!!!!!!!!!
:cheer2: :cheer2:

Lighttech Running out of oil. :scared1: Hoping BL doesn't catch what the rest of you have.

Have more I want to say but have to go now.. Talk later. :upsidedow

Does AMTRAK go to PA.? I saw Pikerster post on Buses. Our plant is closing for vacation from Aug. 4th - 14th.
How do you feel about older women having long hair? Should she get it cut when she gets a certain age? Color or not to color.

AMTRAK goes from Phila west. There's even a stop in my town. I could taxi you to Hershey.
My hair has just about always been shorter. I have thin, flat hair. I could not do the Hammel cut because I have no body to my hair. I hate it now the way it's cut. I told my hairdresser last time it would not do for me the way it does for her but it didn't look any different. I get a part (cowlick?) in the back and long hair would not help that. I do highlight my hair. I have mousy brown with more and more grey coming in. Of course my Mom thinks as you get older, your hair should be shorter. I teased her that she will soon need to be bald if that were true! She also thinks a curly perm is a necessity!

I'm planning to go a little ga-ga in the beauty regime in the Phils next week. I can afford it over there! I'm going to go light red-brown this time. I figure I can always dye it back to dark before I come back if its not a good color for me. I've secretly always wanted red hair (actually, the color of Wendy's daughter hair is the exact shade I envy. Her hair is gorgeous!) so I'm going to try it. I"m also getting eyelash extensions; I've had them before and they were so much fun! And they're crazy expensive in Manhattan, so I'll get them while I can! Since I can't fit into clothes and shoes over there I'm going all out at the salon.

You give yourself a little pampering...take a pic of those long lashes for us!

:sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: I'm just  about that game. I'm blaming it all on the wind. Yeah, that's it, it was the wind...

Wasn't it windy for both teams?:confused3

MY FAVORITE MOVIE IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD!!!!!!!!!

Singing along......BooooWhooooWhooo!

YEAH EAGLES! I think that may be the last time I get to say that this year so sorry...

A lot to catch up with. Hi to everybody. Glad to see some of you back.
OK sickies...perk up. The cold will freeze those germs out!

I cancelled Hotel Hershey and guess what---NO snow! I could not believe it. They even were still saying 1-3 turning to sleet/freezing rain Sat afternoon at 8 am Sat. I knew I would not enjoy that yummy meal worrying about having to drive an hour back to mom's in that weather. But it didn't happen! I guess I'm glad but I sure wasn't then. We did have a little bit on the sidewalk that evening. So I rescheduled for this Sat and it is supposed to be sunny. But as others have said we are to have coldest day in 4 years this week. Tomorrow is Mom's actual bday and it's to be sunny. I'm taking her and 2 friends to Lititz for lunch.

M&N, you can say Go Eagles all you want. What's past is past. Now I have to root for them becuase they are the most local team for us! DS does not agree, and still blames the loss on DD.:confused3 Yeah, both teams had the same wind, and my friend who was at the game said there was NO wind! I was just looking for an out. I know the reason we lost is that we did not play well. Eli Manning had a bad day. Wish he could have picked a different day for that, but it is what it is. Hey, it's just a game.

M&N quote: Of course my Mom thinks as you get older, your hair should be shorter. I teased her that she will soon need to be bald if that were true!

Go Eagles! Go Eagles! Go Eagles! That should be enough for now. Thanks for the permission!
I do like both Manning brothers as long as they are not playing the Eagles! I really don't put Donovan as one of my favorite quarterbacks but then I don't pay his salary so I just root for the team.

I got your excuse Whgrn---you couldn't yell enough...it was your tooth's fault they lost. ;)

Grr! I am so frustrated. My travel agent told me that my carryon luggage has be under 15 pounds. Sounds easy, right? I can't see to get it less than 22. So I weighed the empty luggage--and it was 8 pounds on its own! I tried looking for another bag, but I want to have a roller luggage. I have a 4 hour layover in Korea, and undoubtedly my incoming gate is nowhere near my outgoing gate. I'll have to try and try again. Otherwise, I'll just press my luck. If I have to, I'll empty my luggage at the gate.

My husband David Cook has come to his senses. Despite rumours of a purchase of a 2 carat Tiffany engagement ring, David and that girl have broken up, apparently before Christmas. I'll let him grieve for a while, I don't want to be his rebound girl. Oh, who are we kidding? If he wants to rebound me, then he can rebound me all he wants. :thumbsup2

Evening!!! I am so dreading the cold arctic blast of air heading our way. I've been freezing since we came back from vacation. I just can't seem to get warm at all.

Magikitty, would it help if whgrn got out of your checked luggage so you could fit more things in there instead of in your carryon? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: So your boyfriend finally came to his senses. Took him long enough. I bet by the time you get back from your trip, he will be over the grieving process and be ready to jump right into a new relationship. I hope you'll remember us when you are appearing at all those award shows. :goodvibes

lighttech, How did the rest of your day go? Did you get some sleep? I got so excited today. DH was telling me that tomorrow he has to go some help guy who is putting a new roof next to one of the tv studios down your way. He couldn't remember which one so he starts rattling off CBS, NBC and I'm yelling QVC to him. Finally he laughs and says it just some news studio. MEN!!! I would have dragged my butt out of bed at 4am just to go with him.

M&N, welcome back!!! Are you getting ready for the deep freeze? And stop bringing up those Eagles. I have to hear it enough from my dad.

Go Eagles!
I'm going to a Hershey Bears hockey game instead of watching the game. I had the ticket first. One friend is not going because she would rather watch the Eagles. When they loose, they can blame me for giving up on them!

Evening all:

Well it's very stormy here...and the temp is dropping like crazy it's -11 right now which is 13 your way. They've started closing the highways because the wind has picked up.

Yup. Lighting Design for theatre and tv. (Although only tv these days. I used to freelance in addition to my regular job. But now w/ the kids, although we could always use the money, the time at home is way more precious to me.) I forget how much I missed while I was on maternity leave. There's a lot of you guys that I never "officially met."

Hi. My name is Lighttech. I've been a threadkiller for quite some time now. (I even posted on the first page of the original thread :scared1: ) I have 2 boys (3.5yrs and 4.5months) plus my DH. I like chocolate, snuggling up with a good book, long walks and naps... all of which I traded in for my kids! :rotfl: (Well, ok, not the chocolate, although if I ever want to finish losing my "baby weight" I should. :rotfl: ) I'm a little bit nuts - especially late at night or when not sleeping - and I spend my free time typing to a bunch of cool gals I met on a Disney trip planning board! :surfweb:

There, now we're official! ;)

:wave2: Pleased to meet you...I worked for years in Toronto and when I had kids we moved to my hometown (pop 6000) to become a SAHM...DH works at a nearby nuclear plant & we have DS about to turn 9 and DD who is turning 7. I do computer work for a friend who is a financial advisor and go into her office once a week...otherwise I work from home.

:thumbsup2

If it doesn't work out with David please send him my way:love: ...are you watching Idol?? I liked the Emily girl with the tattoos.

We're having scattered snow showers. So far they are scattered from here! The kids seem to want snow here too. Our coldest day in 4 years is to be Friday. High of 18. Tomorrow is to be 23 but mostly sunny. So I won't have to worry about driving out to lunch on Mom's bday.
I haven't taken the swags off my windows and don't plan to this week. I know the windows wouldn't be open that much but I can wait.

Ok Tkers, I need your help. DH just sprung on me last night that he wants to go see the Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero and various other parts of NYC before we move. :scared1: Last night out of the blue. :headache: I've been telling him for years that we should go and the answer has always been no. I haven't been to NYC since I was in 8th grade and that was a school trip. I am so clueless. We would only drive up for the day or overnight at the most. I know you all had suggestions for Pikester but her trip sounds like it would be alot longer. I think DH just wants to see the highlights but any other suggestions would be helpful.

There are bus tours from here that are 'on your own' trips. I've also taken the train up for the day but that's not as good. NYC has bus tours that you get on and off at the various places at your own pace. I have a plastic fold up map that we used. People from here that drive do not drive into NYC. Not sure where they stop.

I'll have to look into the bus trip. I don't think I want DH driving up there. And I bet the kids would get a kick out of a bus trip.

Racetrack, if you decide not to take one of M&N's recommended bus trips, take the train into the city and look into Citypass. Its good for 7 days and has tickets to see a lot of the famous landmarks. You can buy the Citypass online or at any of the venues that the tickets are good for. www.citypass.com

My bad...the citypass includes either a Circle Line tour OR a Liberty/Ellis island tour. I LOVE the Circle line, but its one of those cheesy things that adults who want to rest like to do. Not too sure if the kids would appreciate it.

I wouldn't recommend going to see the Statue of Liberty. You can't see very much on Liberty Island, and Lady Liberty is better appreciated from afar. I recommend taking the Staten Island Ferry. You have a great view of the Statue for cheap! You can walk from the ferry to Ground Zero.

I have always wanted to go to Ellis Island. Maybe they have a Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island combo?

I haven't been to Ground Zero in a while so I can't tell you if they have a visitors center or anything. But its still amazing to go. The area itself is so congested, and just looking up and imagining these huge towers coming down is so very humbling.

Thank you!!! :worship: I made DH read what both you and M&N wrote. He did say something about driving to Jersey and taking a ferry over. We won't be going till summer so I have time to figure out what we want to do. I just hate when he springs these ideas on me.

I took a bus trip to Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. I loved both. I was excited to walk up inside the statue and see it that way. Ellis Island was way more than I imagined...never really studied it in school I guess. It was depressing in a way too to see what they went through to get here. For a 1st time trip, I'm not sure it is a must---kids probably won't enjoy it. But you should at least see the Statue of Liberty. You must go to the top of the Empire State Building. Does NBC still have a tour?

I got your excuse Whgrn---you couldn't yell enough...it was your tooth's fault they lost. ;)

Waaaah! Don't blame me, I'll never forgive myself!!!

OK. Do you get one carryon and a purse type bag? If so, here's what you do. Your "purse" should be rather large. Just before you weigh your carryon, take a few small but heavy items out of the carryon and stash them in your purse. You'll only have to carry them a short time. Once you clear the weigh-in, put them back in the carryon bag and you're all set. Trust me MK, I've travelled all over the world, as has my sister. We are PROs at dealing with luggage limitations!

Magikitty, would it help if whgrn got out of your checked luggage so you could fit more things in there instead of in your carryon?

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Go Eagles!
I'm going to a Hershey Bears hockey game instead of watching the game. I had the ticket first. One friend is not going because she would rather watch the Eagles. When they loose, they can blame me for giving up on them!

Ooooh, that's WAY better than blaming me!

I'll have to look into the bus trip. I don't think I want DH driving up there. And I bet the kids would get a kick out of a bus trip.

Do NOT drive into NY! Take the bus, train, ferry, canoe, waterskis, anything but a car!

As far as things to not miss: Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, a Broadway show if you can swing it--matinees are usually cheaper, and your kids would probably enjoy The Lion King, Shrek, Beauty and the Beast, or something else kid oriented--horse drawn carriage ride through Central Park (and while there, check out the zoo and the carousel!), a ride on the subway, and maybe a visit to either Chinatown or Little Italy for lunch. There's WAY too much for just one day, so you may want to stay at the Sheraton Weehawken! I don't think you can go up in the Statue of Liberty, so visiting there is a waste. And Ground Zero is a waste of time, there's nothing to see there except a construction site--it was such a letdown when I went in November! Oh, St. Patrick's Cathedral is also beautiful to see.
