What clan are you? My roots are in the Mull of Kintyre on the west coast. My mom was a MacLean...they're castle/roots are on the Isle of Mull. It's been years since I was in Edinburgh, always loved it though. Glasgow's good for shopping...my favourite activity when over there.

MSP--Glad you're going to support your mom. With families spread apart, funerals become family reunions for us.

Hope all the other sickies are better. I had a nice New Years eve. Nothing special. We were on the phone a lot of the time with Mom's sisters.

I was a commuter for college. Thankfully, the best state college for library science was just 1 town over so I could live at home. I know I missed out on the dorm thing but I made some good friendships commuting. Plus I know I studied a lot better. I don't know how my parents afforded it as it was...and it sure wasn't much then as compared to now but comparing it to my parents salary, it was. I had a part time job so paid for my books and gas. I did do dorms in grad school for 2 summers. Glad I didn't have to do it for 4 years.

Sorry I am not going to multi quote, but I hope everyone who has been sick is feeling better, Wendy I hope your tooth is better soon-my DH has had a BAD one for weeks and the dentist is finally getting him in tomorrow, he has been taking 3 times the recommended dose of Motrin for at least a week, MSP, sorry for your families loss. Hope everybodys kids are safely back in school.

Sorry it's been so long.

Trying to catch up-almost there.
MagiKitty-hope you have a great trip. You know one of my DD's best friends if from the Phillipines-she is too cute and a lot of fun. She loves to come here because she says it quiet ( her family bought 3 houses side by side so there is always family and extended family there) and my DD loves to be there because there is always lots of people around.

I spent yesterday with my DM at the Urgent Care. She got sick on the last day in New Orleans-we thought is might be a allergy or cold-well, the next day it hit her in the chest and I started to wonder about our room at Palace De Arms (it's old [and haunted BTW]) and I thought oh no, mold or aspergillis
Saturday Mom was really sick-I'd been nagging her but she kept blowing me off-well I got a weird feeling Sunday and called at 6am and said I was taking her somewhere and then she was staying here with me till she got better-she didn't fight me so I know she was bad off. Well she doesn't have pneumonia but needed IV fluids and meds to stop the vomiting: five hours later we left and she is here. I made her homemade chicken soup and tons of Gatorade. She sounds terrible but looks and feels better. She just went up to bed and said maybe tomorrow she would put on some clothes.

DH is in Dallas for meetings (actually right now he's in a sports bar somewhere watching Ohio State and TX) and DD is back in school.
School called today and they want me 2-3 days a week. I guess I will go back. It's nice to be wanted and good to keep your hand in I suppose.



As for the group name:
How about the using the name of that new tv show-- DietTribe
maybe the TKDietTribe?

OF COURSE none of us ever go on diatribes on this tread so maybe it might be ironic- then again, I know my attitude changes when I go on a diet. Betcha, DH will find no irony in the name.

Thanks! I went to the dentist at 1:40. By that point I was in agony even with the Percocet. I could not even touch my tooth without hitting the ceiling! He hooked me right up to the nitrous, so I was feeling pretty good. Then he put a swab in my mouth with numbing stuff on it. Let that sit awhile, then came in and did the novocaine. I didn't even feel the needle. He let that cook a good while, and when I was totally numb, he started working. I never felt a thing! He did a partial root canal, but there was so much abcess and drainage he couldn't do it all. He left it open to drain and sent me home on antibiotics. I'm scheduled to go back Thursday am to finish the root canal.

I came home and felt great...until the novocaine wore off. Now I'm in pain again. it's not as bad as before, but it's bad. I took 2 Motrin (which i'm not supposed to take but too bad!) and it actually seems to have helped MORE than the Percocet, which did nothing but make me really nauseous. So I think I'll take 2 more Motrin before I go to bed. I'll call him in the AM and see what he wants me to do.

Lately he isn't. But you gotta go where the work is. His normal work day around here is usually 10-12 hours including travel. You just get used to it in a way. Now it was really bad when he went to Miami for 6 months and he only came home for 3 weekends.

How can a tooth get that bad? Aren't they awful? I should go to dentist for my cap--a piece chipped off but I won't til it hurts! Do not like the dentist at all. Hope you can get some sleep.
