Fountain Play Idea to stay dry

Everyone is talking about how they bring a change of clothes for their kids after they get soaked in the fountains. I really don't want to do that b/c I don't want to carry the extra clothes and b/c I bought Disney clothes, and I don't want them to be worn just for part of the day. Silly I know.

I don't know what to expect from the fountains. So, I was wondering, will it work if we throw a poncho on the dds while they play in the fountains? I know we may get a few weird looks and seem kind of uptight, but I thought it might work.

What do you think?

It probably would not work. A CM would likely stop you due to the risk of falling. Could you put a swimsuit on under her clothing and she can just take the outfit off when going in the water? Then put her clothes back on when you take the suit off, or it dries?

Definitely won't work -- the fountains I have seen are the ones that spray from below.

The water comes up from the sidewalk so a poncho really wouldn't work. Could you have her wear her bathing suit under her clothes and then just bring underpants to put on after the fountain? It really is a fun place and the margarita stand in Mexico is just a short walk away. DH and I enjoyed the fiesta ones while DD enjoyed the water - fun for all .

That's what we did! It worked great and a wet bathing suit doesn't weigh too much to carry around. Bring a small towel to help dry off with.

A lot of those fountain play areas squirt from the bottom as well. I think the swimsuit idea is a good one. Carrying a spare set of clothes takes up hardly any room in a ziplock -- also may come in handy if ice cream dribbles or some other catastrophe occurs ( I know I can't stand it when my kids have a stain on their clothes).

Just saying what everyone else had already said - fountains come from the ground, so where her top might stay dry, her bottoms are going to be soaked. I would either pack an extra set of clothes, a swimsuit or just avoid it altogether.

There is really no point in playing in a splash fountain and not getting wet. The whole reason that those things were installed is to allow kids to have fun and cool off by getting wet.

You really should have them wear sandals that are meant for water play (NOT slide-type; they need a heel strap), less chance of slips, and no chance of burning the soles of their feet while getting to/from the wet area.

Well, I'll just go with the flow (no pun intended - lol) and bring extra clothes or something. Where are all of these fountains and water areas anyway?

Its been awhile since we were there, but I recall ones in MGM in the American Streets area....Fire Hydrant. MK I thought was Ariels Grotto? And in DTD. Sounds like Epcot has them as well.
