I posted this on another board, but wanted to see if anyone here knows. Why is the large fountain at EPCOT not running and when will it be on again?
thanks!!

Due to the water restrictions in Central Florida.

We have haed a lot of rain lately but it is still not enough.

Many fountains around the property are currently "dry".
:(

As for when............who knows?

I hope its up because it is my favorite thing in Epcot and I am going in August...     :( :( :(

Many fountains around WDW have been drained in order to keep environmentality going in WDW during the the dry years that occurred. Disney has reduced the amount of potable (drinking) water by conservation and recycling by over 100 million gallons compared to last year's numbers.

However, I'm fairly certain that the Logo Plaza Fountain was not impacted by the restrictions. It was flowing strong in April and May (the worst of the drought when the fires were present.) My understanding is that it went down for maintenace, I thought it was already back up.

...actually in the fountain during our June trip said that it was down for rehab and would be back in September.

They had water flowing in (but not filling up) the fountatin on at least two days of our trip.

Maintenance workers actually in the fountain during our June trip said that it was down for rehab and would be back in September.
Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

Doesn't ANYONE else see anything wrong in this!!!!!????

What happened to trying to maintain a good "SHOW"!!!!!????

Good point DVC! Let's hope it was desperate work and not regular mataniance.

...Suzy tells me I'm crazy, that the guy told us the fountain would be open by July 4th. I sure remember _something_ being open again in September...

Can anyone recently returning confirm or deny if the fountain is back up?

Jeff

I hope its just a rehab. The fountain is one of my favorite places at EPCOT:pinkbounc

Someone just posted from DQ that the fountains in Epcot and DD are indeed up and running :)

1. The fountain is still drained for rehab. I was there yesterday.
2. The fountain in question was not affected by the drought, which, btw, is pretty much over.
3. Yes, it is bothersome, and bad show to have workers in on stage areas during guest hours. WDW uses outside contractors for construction, and while most work IS done at night after park close, some work must be done during the day due to scheduling conflicts and/or contractor/worker availability (Central FL unemployment rate is still less than 3%, and there's LOTS of construction in the area right now). But if one has a mini-stroke every time one reads about this kind of (very minor, imho) problem, one will be eating Jell-o through a straw with the help of a machine before one gets to visit WDW again and realizes that the sky is not falling after all (much love and respect meant to the baron, btw... just worried about your health, after all, you are getting on in the years (j/k)...)

I tend to agree with you Steve regarding overall maintenance at the parks in WDW today. The property is as imaculate as ever. Maintenance is very high at the parks and resorts, and it shows. As far as appearance goes at WDW, Disney gets a high grade from me. I was very impressed on my last trip this past June. Now, early closings of certain attractions and restaurants is an entirely different issue, one that I think is regretable. But overall, the place is gorgeous. I'm willing to live with a little bit of daylight maintenance so long as it doesn't get out of hand, which it wasn't on my last trip.
