Found some old tickets... now what???

Sorry silly question but back in 2000 if you stayed at Disney World were the tickets only non-expiring if you purchased them that way? I have my old tickets on my keys to the world and I know we had more days that we ended up not using and I have no idea if we purchased non-expiring or expiring at the time.

Before "Magic Your Way" tickets (current kind of tickets) nearly all tickets were non-expiring.

We paid extra for them to be non-expiring. You can email Disney (the address is in this thread) and send them pictures of the cards (front and back) and a government issued ID (front and back) and they will get back to you and let you know. It only took 2 days for me to hear back from them.

KandB, I didn't originally by the ticket myself, my MIL did. We went on 2 trips together and I knew that the first trip she had bought extra days to use the next time we went, I just wasn't sure if she had done the same thing the 2nd time and I also couldn't remember if we had used them all or not. It's easy to not pay attention when you are the young adult NOT footing the bill - lol!

Can anyone who has emailed the "Ticket.Usage" email speak to how long it took to hear back from them?

It took 2 days for my first email and 3 for the second. I sent my ticket first and then after I received the good news, I sent DH's to make sure he had days left too. (Hence the 2 emails.)

My wife just told me her aunt has 2 tickets but doesn't know how many days on them. They are from the 1980's I believe. Does it matter if tickets are way older?

Older tickets can still be used for park admission.
If you want to use them to make advanced FP+ reservations (which you CAN do,)
those older tickets need to be linked to your MyDisneyExperience account.

If you can't do that yourself, call WDW Ticket Guest Services for help.

Whooo-hoooooo! Just heard back and we have a 7-day MYW unused ticket (and some passes with "Fun days").

I have NO idea how this happened (well, I have a theory about a guest who was supposed to join on a trip and did not, but that was five years ago I can't BELIEVE I would have forgotten I had this ticket!)

Anyway, a couple of new questions:

We are planning to buy 8 or 9-day passes for this upcoming trip, so can I just pay the difference to upgrade it? And if so, how do I do that in advance of the trip so that I can add it to MDE to make FP+ reservations?

Thanks in advance for any sage advice about process...

Ok, I'm pretty sure I'm correct about this, but someone will correct me if I'm not.

I don't believe you can make any changes to that ticket until you are in the park. I believe the only way you can add days to a park ticket IN ADVANCE is if it's part of a package you have booked.

When you do get to the parks I believe the policy is that you should USE the ticket at least once before adding days. This will allow you to price-bridge the old ticket so that you only have to pay for the additional day, you won't have to pay the difference between current gate price and what you originally paid for the ticket. This is my plan for the unused ticket I have from 2012, if I decide to add a day to it.

Well, that's a bummer, because we won't be able to make FP+ for that person for those last two days...

Ditto to all of the above.
Stand alone tickets can't be upgraded before the trip.

Just make FP+ for the 5 days that the person will be in a park with the more difficult to get FP+.

FP+ do not have to be booked on consecutive days.

So for instance, don't book advance FP+ for day you will be at DAK.

Then, as soon as you upgrade that ticket, at that point make the FP+ reservations for the two days that you skipped.

But if I attach the ticket, will it let me pick which days? I am assuming it would just apply to days 1-7 of the 9?

Thread necromancy in action...

So, I procrastinated long enough and finally got around to sending in the scans - took about a week, but both sets of tickets were verified to contain the remaining admissions (the older ones each had two waterpark, etc., admissions remaining, and the more recent ones had 5 PH days each). A follow-up phone call made by me (took me about 45 minutes) allowed me to link the tickets to my MDE account.

A couple of notes on that: 1) while I'm assured they're "in the system", MDE does not display the waterpark admissions; 2) the park tickets are displayed using their original length (7 days), even though only 5 days remain - again, I was assured that the system has the correct info.

In theory, I no longer need the physical tickets, but there's not a chance I'm going to misplace or destroy them until they're fully used. :-) Also, the impression I got was that after linking them to MDE, if they're not used within a vague-ish sounding couple of years, they may have to be re-linked.
