I think I've finally found the design/plans we want...we have about 5 more years before we plan on building (dh's garage will be paid off by then and we can transition easily to house payments me thinks) Currently we own the mobile home we're in, and we own the 125 acres it sits on. It's adjacent to dh's parents 78 acres of land, and the 400 acres of land behind us is dh's dad's inherited. Anywhoo...
The houses in our area are era 1750's, early 1800's, and we're in the western mountains of Maine. I wanted to build something that fit into the lay of the land, a new house that looks and feels old, kwim? Dh wants one with a post and beam style, lots of wood (seeing how we'll be building our house with our own wood using dh's sawmill).
Here's the site I found....
www.earlynewenglandhomes.com
Dh loves it, I love it...wahooo! (Did I also mention that my dad, a career carpenter, will be retired by then and will be building our house?? oh, my life is good...)
Off to count my blessings now...
