Found it in the bushes across from Star Tours store, across from speeder.

Turned it right in at Guest Relations. Posting in case it was a Diser!

Hope it makes it back to owner I'd be just devastated if I lost my phone.

PSA:
If you want to not lose a phone, don't just slip it in your back pants pocket.

Glad that you found the phone and turned it in!

A few suggestions....
  • make sure and test your FindMyiPhone is working. Works great on tablets too.
  • create a call back message or an ICE entry in your contact list. ICE is short for In Case of Emergency contact number.
  • Dial *#06# on your phone to show the IMEI number. Write this number down some place.
  • when lost... try calling your phone and/or use the phone tracker before the battery dies.

That's exactly how my DD lost her phone on the Transformers ride a couple of years ago. Someone eventually found it and turned it in. I would not have come looking here on the DIS to see if someone found it however, and I would think posting it here would make it more likely someone else would try to claim it. Yesterday there was a post about a found camera.

Guest Relations would require a person prove it was his or her phone (by unlocking it, or knowing some contacts if it wasn't locked, or something like that), so this should not be a problem for a phone. Maybe a little more difficult to prove for a camera, although most cameras would have a memory card with some identifiable photos on them, to help verify ownership.

I can understand that - I think by posting lost items it helps remind us, to secure items, as well as check lost and found, WDW is so huge, has so many visitors, that it takes awhile for things to end up in Lost and Found, so posting a lost item may give hope to others that might have lost an item like a phone or a camera.

Just a suggestion - DH did this on both our phones. On your home screen (the one that shows up when an iPhone is locked after you press the home button) he put our name, alternate contact phone number and email address with a message that starts out: "If found please contact....". I'm sure some good samaritans out there would gladly contact us if we ever lost our phones. Hope this helps someone else!

That's a great idea!

I've seen posts before from people who lost their phone on the Dis, that's why I posted. iPhone 6 plus' can only be unlocked by the owner too.

I have a 6 Plus but dont use the lock feature. Should I use this feature? Does it really matter? Im asking since I really dont have a clue.

Thanks.

That's what i was thinking since mine is locked no one could access and ICE Number but how do you put a message on the home screen? Type a note then screen shot is as a photo?

I'm a train conductor and just last week I was given a lost phone and it was locked. As I am not supposed to use a cell phone while working one of my passengers took the phone and used Siri and asked it to call "home". It dialed "home" and the husband of the woman who lost it answered. In the end she was able to meet me at the last station and get her phone back.

So glad you turned it in! I left my phone in a bathroom at ASM and it was taken. I couldn't believe someone would steal a phone at the Happiest Place on Earth!

Yes. You should lock it so that it can only be accessed by your 4-digit code or your finger biometric.

When unlocked, anything on your phone as well as apps would be available to anyone.

Great that you turned it in! Over the years at WDW we've found a purse left in an elevator with KTTW cards and cash, and a couple of wallets with tickets and money, and a bundle of KTTW cards, all returned to the very grateful owners.

I would like to say thank you on behalf of the owner. I do not know them but someone turned in my camera in May and it was the biggest relief that someone chose to turn it in instead of pocket expensive equipment. Also, I had to identify the color, brand, size and then they had me turn it on to show pics of us for proof that it was, indeed, ours.
