DD10 found a baby bunny in our garage, about the size of my palm. I think our cat may have been toying w/ it a bit, it's leg seems to be hurt, otherwise fine, I think. It is sooo windy here today, wind advisories all day, so I don't think I can put it outside until morning. It's in a tall box in our laundry room, so the cat can't get to it, w/ a little water and lettuce. What do I do w/ the poor thing in the morning? It probably won't survive outside if it's leg is hurt, but I can't envision taking it to the vet - what would you do?:confused3

If you have access to a wildlife rescue, I would turn the bunny over to there. we did that with some animal once. (don't recall what it was--but it was found injured in our yard, we put it in a box and delivered it where they can assess the animal, treat its injuries and make proper decisions on if and when it can be released.)

I would Google Wildlife Rehab in your area. There are volunteers that rehab injured animals.
We always seem to happen upon injured turtles in the road and I have taken them in.

you can call a wildlife rescue service or even the SPCA can help.

Thanks! I did'nt even know there was such a thing - I found a Wildlife Rehab center (closest one is 3 hours away). I'll call it first thing in the morning:thumbsup2. It's storming out really badly so I guess we have an overnight guest! DD and I peek on it every once in awhile but we aren't even going to tell my younger 2 so they don't scare the poor thing any more than it already is. I told dd not to touch it so it won't have human scent on it in case the mom bunny can find it - here's hoping!

How nice of you to take care of the precious little guy! I think you're on the right track with the wildlife rescue. Good luck!:)

You probably won't see this post, but I would put an electric blanket or very warm towels from the dryer in with the bunny. Water bottle would work if you keep changing it out when it gets cold.

Depending on how old, it might still be nursing. Might not be interested in the lettuce.

Hope bunny makes it through the night and you can get it to rescue asap.

Wildlife rescues are definitely a plus. Also, for future reference, you can also contact local vets. Some will take in wildlife and treat them and/or may have numbers to local rescues that could help out.

The warm blankets are a good idea. Also, rabbits cannot eat regular lettuce, especially iceberg lettuce. Feed it some kale, endive, brussell sprouts, or carrots with the greens left on, if you think it is old enough.

Thread is from yesterday. By this point, I'm hoping the bunny is in professional hands and not still at home.

Thanks, I didn't notice the date. I just sort was worried about the rabbit eating regular lettuce since lettuce can kill a small rabbit.
