Is it necessary if going during a slow time of year? (november, early december). We really don't like to wait in line and everytime we've gone to Disney, we've been able to avoid lines of more than 10 min. because of planning, fast passes and time of year.

thanks for any input :)

I would never buy the express pass until I actually saw how long wait times were and if I thought they were too long for my liking. You will most likely not "need" them at that time.

No. You can use the single-rider queues (on the attractions that have them) as a free substitute.

And just as an aside, who does like to wait in lines?

go to any theme park, there is a line........

the motherland has the fast pass system
the darkside has the express pass system

We always go off-season (we've gone middle of October and the week after Turkey day - and are going again the week after Turkey day this year)

The crowds are low this time of year, and some rides don't give you Express pass options (at least as of last year, I'm sure there is a list of them somewhere around here).

Having said that, we are always willing to pay to stay onsite for the express pass... being there for only a couple days as a side trip from Disney, it makes it so much more pleasant to pass through to the shorter lines, even if the regular line was only a 10 minute wait. Especially the Mummy and Spider-Man. It seems kind of superfluous at show rides like Shrek though.

So balance how many days you have for the parks, how many rides your kids are old enough to go on, and how many lines (including those that don't allow Express passes, like Harry Potter) you are willing to stand for 10+ minutes and ask yourself if it's worth it to you.
