Staying at RPR in 3 weeks and was wondering if the line for FOTL is getting longer with more onsite guests (RPR)? Any feedback on wait times would be appreciated. Thanks.

All-day Universal Express access is still on with all the onsite hotels. As for a longer than usual line, I hadn't noticed yet.

I was amazed but it didn't seem like the third hotel had much affect on the lines, and RP was sold out. I didnt wait in line for anything except a 15 minute wait on MIB at US.
At IOA we waited 20 minutes for Spidey and maybe 5 on a few other biggies, that's it! :)

CPM, Thats what we like to hear. Does everyone need to carry a room key (even the kids) to show at the ride, or how does that work? Thanks, Jade.

Yes, Jade, everyone needs to have a room key (I would imagine with the exception of toddlers and infants). I went last summer and some of the staff barely looked at the keys and others actually read it to check the dates, go figure! Have fun, its the best perk I have seen at any park! ;)

Actually, one room key will allow up to four people to get in. We went this past weekend and only one of us had to show a room key.

Not saying that Betterlatethannever is wrong or anything, I think he was quite fortunate because when I went with my niece last summer, like I said before, some of staff never gave the room key a second look while others asked both my niece and me to show our keys, I would think its better safe than sorry. HTH!;)

You mentioned that you were there last summer. I think it is continually evovlving. Before I went I did a search on FOTL in this forum. There was a posting (I think from 2000) where they were talking about everybody having a room key and scanning them in at each ride so you could only use express once per day for each ride/attraction. I am not sure if this was ever implremented.

Betterlatethannever, I didn't see that happening there, at least our keys were never scanned, just read by the staff. I also thought it was silly for eveyone in one family having to show the keys, I hope they did change it, it makes more sense, why would you want to give children a room key?? Thanks for the info. Since I'm going solo this summer it doesn't make a difference for me but 2003 we'll be taking the grandkids!! Have a Disney Day!;)

When you show your key, you point out who is with you on the outset. I've seen one key get in as many as 6 people, though I believe 5 is the norm. Children do not have to show a key.

As for the lines, I, too, was surprised this week that the lines were no longer than they were last year when there were only two hotels. What I find amazing is that the lines are more filled with UE pass holders from the machines than on site guests. I think more people are understanding how that system works.

We returned from USF/ IOA beginning of June 2002 and each room key gets 4 people in the express line. We avoided 90 minute plus wait for Spidey and walked right on. My wife puchased a clear holder for the card and wore it around her neck for easy access and worked like a charm. The kids do not need a room key at all. I'd get (2) keys so if you split up there would be no problems. This is by far the best feature out there.

we too only needed one room key for the four of us. my daughter carried it around her neck and liked the idea of being in charge of showing the room key for all of us.
also, a worker there told us that they were cutting down the number of express passes given for non on site guests to accomodate the extra royal pacific guests.
i would never go to ioa without staying onsite.

Be careful when you give your kids room keys, they lost two of them & I found a whole bunch of art from portofino charged on my room!;)

I agree with Robin about the paper Express, seems more are using it now.
Yesterday around 2 pm, the Hulk "Express line" was backed up outside (about 20' past where you first enter showing your keycard)!
But, hey, it's a summer Saturday after the previous week-end of steady rain. Figured the "15 min. wait" wasn't gonna be a guarantee afterall.

CPM,

I am so sorry to hear that you actually had unauthorized purchases charged to your room!

Kids being kids, I always get my ds's a room card each with No Charging Priviledges; so, when they 'misplace' them - I don't panic.

I am sure everyone knows this; but just in case I thought I would post it.

I'm sorry Pixie gal, it was a private joke! No one charged to my room. I usually do the same, but I give them a $5.00 a day credit on thier room keys so they can get a snack if I'm not with them.

I'm not mentioning ANY names but I saw a very tall Asian man carrying art and memorabilia in a white car somewhere in the vicinity of the Portofino.... stop THIEF!! ;)

No, we just got back yesterday and the lines were actually very short even in the regular lines. We never had to wait more than 5 to 10 minutes for any. You'll love RP but watch out for the pricey food menus. The Islands Rest is very pricey. It was $15 for breakfast buffet and $25 for lunch buffet. We never ate there because we didn't want to spend the $$$ for 2 teenagers to eat there because they eat about $1 worth of food. Enjoy! RP is a paradise.

CPM,

So, how do I look with "egg on my face"???? Not becoming. How embarassing............ This will show me to post what is so obvious.............

I am glad that none of that actually happened............
