FOTL and Missing Queue "Story"

I'm sure there's probably a word for the decorations and everything you walk through while waiting in the lines for the rides....just can't seem to think of what it would be right now!

My question is.....if you do FOTL, do you miss all this? If so, are there are any rides that we should ride stand-by just so we don't miss it?

We used the FOTL pass on everything that we could. Some of the lines, you went thru right beside the standby line and then split off, Some of them you got to go before they let others thru the line. We were usually walking pretty quickly, not necessarily taking in the view! I do remember looking at the Men In Black stuff,but you walk thru the same area as standby, and the Cat in the Hat ( I just looked through the door, at a very long wait while we walked right on-it was cute) The standby lines were extremely long and we loved the FOTL. I can't think of what the line decorations are called either!

I prefer the full queue at both MIB and Spiderman -- within reason, of course. If the waits are more than 20 minutes standby, I'll use the EP or FOTL.

Did the regular line for ET last trip, had never seen the full "forest" cool.

if only you could miss the terminator preshow , nice bit yet gets old fast.

I agree about the pre-show for Terminator. Once, maybe twice a trip is OK, for us. If we could skip the pre-show we would go more often. We only saw the show 1 time in 10 days back in October.

Yea, it's why I hate express. Those who stay at the resorts (or bought the tickets) don't want to risk waiting, so they'll take the Express Line, even if it's posted a 5 minute wait. There's a lot of detail in the queue. Let's see what attractions have what...

USF - (what you miss with Express)
Nuetron - no difference
Shrek - no difference
Twister - no difference
Mummy - not a whole lot. still get the eerie environment
Jaws - no difference
MIB - miss the preshow (cmon express users, just do it once), miss the room with the aliens pushing all the buttons, and the hallway with the doors you can pull on
ET - now the line goes through the forest scene a bit before splitting into express.

IOA
Hulk - miss the laboratory part. and the ability to wait for the front heh
Doom - miss EVERYTHING... doom's express line is the worst, I hate it. how many express holders see the actual line here? it's a really good queue, one of the best at IOA
Spiderman - express line is a little better then the regular line, but you miss the story video
Ripsaw - miss everything
Popeye - miss everything
River Adventure - no difference
Flying Unicorn - no difference
Dragons - a LOT you miss. You mess the best queue line in the world
poseidon - no difference
trolley - no difference
caro - no difference
one fish - no difference
cat in the hat - just look through the "hedges" you basically can see the whole line

Another question - on Dragons, we already will have to split up because my
9yo daughter is not tall enough. Can we all go through the queue and then do a baby swap at the end? Or, if not, can we all go through, one ride and the other two get out through a "chicken exit"?

Yea, you can all go up together. On the Fire side, the child swap room is to left of the station gates, to the right on Ice. When you walk up, the greeter will most likely tell you your child is too short. Just tell them you're doing child swap, and they'll be cool with it.

I don't mind the Terminator pre-show, but lord save me from Twister!! Way too long of a build up for such a short payoff.

I wish I had realized we were missing some of the themeing by using FOTL . We were just so glad not to be in the long lines, it never entered my mind. I guess we'll just have to go back! Thanks for the ? and the info!

You realize that "forest" used to be 'outside' before they 'covered' and 'enclosed' the line? I remember when US first opened...we waited forever in the ET line.... Um, yeahhh...THAT was a mistake!

Our last trip, I wanted to go early to do the regular line for Hulk and MIB. Realized I wasn't missing anything in Hulk or Spidey and I got to see the 'worm guys' at MIB. Nice to see once, but wouldn't wait in line to see it.

If you think about it, if you are standing in a long queue, they have to make it interesting and have things to 'look at' while you're waiting..... No thanks...lemme ride!

I agree we did et in june and a long wait for what to stand in a forest and to be honest people love the smell in there and thats when I wished I had fotl cause the smell made me sick and wanted to get DS 15 on the hulk but the wait times was and hour long so thats why when we go in july we are trying to stay onsite for the fotl .
so missing the ques aren't a big deal to me

I think it's also worth noting here that you can walk through the queue at Dueling Dragons (which I think is the best at IOA/USF) even if you don't want to ride the coaster. There's a so-called "chicken exit" near the front of the queue.

If you're there at a slow time, you can pretty much walk through at your leisure.
