Hi I have a few questions for ya!

i HAVE items that are still in great shape, some still new but un returnable, we no longer exchange with cousins and such for holidays etc I have wanted to help a child in need with out beingthe only person to do so.
is there a program where I can get involved with a child and donate items that this child needs/wants?? im thinking like sending this kid a birthday card with a small gift on day, making sure he/she has a chirstmas gift and also maybe donating clothes, school supplies etc that my DD has no use for anylonger including music, andtoys

yes I know i could just have garage sale but I want to help out a kid if possible!! kinda like a big sister program just havent found one local to me any ideas?
I have been donating my clothes and hubbys to salvation army but I know even buyingfrom there it adds up fast!!

How many hubby's do you have and why are you donating them?

Check with your local children's services office. If you're in Florida, it is called the Department of Children and Families. My wife has worked here in Michigan in that department for twelve years. She has seen so many kids that through no fault of their own end up in he system with little to nothing. Foster parents only get a little bit of money to buy the kids presents, so what you want to do would be a great help. I don't know if they would be able to directly assist with getting these things to a kid or they may be able to direct you to a local agency that they work with. There are privacy concerns so you may not be able to directly give them to the kids. I know my wife's office puts on a Christmas party and picnics every year. If you REALLY want to get involved, become a CASA. Court Appointed Special Advocate for the kid. They get to know the kids and recomend what is best/what the kid wants. They look after the kids' best interest, not the parents', and not the State's.

You can also check with local churches and/or schools for specific families in need. Be aware that most agencies will not give you specific details about the family so you would not be able to have repeated contact with the same family.

Around the hiolidays, there are often "giving trees" or something similar where you can pick up a card for a specific unnamed child that will tell items that he/she needs or wants.

You can also look for local private foster care agencies. I know the agency we went through is always looking for donations and volunteers, especially as the holidays approach.

You could also check with a school's guidance office. That is who our town relies on for the local version of Toys for Tots and a school supply drive the churches do.

As others said, for privacy concerns, they aren't going to give you a child's information to contact. They would know though, who has a need/if it matches what you have to give and could act as an intermediary.

Better question: Who wants extra husbands?!

I don't know--a few might come in handy.
One can do the outside yard work
one can maintain the cars and garage
one to entertain the kids
one to work and support us all
one to keep me happy. ;)

Since I have done all of that, all at one time, at one point or another over the last 20 years, I think 5 men can handle it. :rotfl2:

I've donated things like coats to our local school before. And we also have an Outreach Program that always seems to know of kids in need. A girl scout group may know of a little girl that would really need and appreciate your kindness.

I would only give the new items as gifts. The used items although in good condition I wouldnt give those as birthday or christmas gifts. I would also check with local schools to see if they have a child that needs a mentor or just need a special friend.

No I wasn't gonna give the used items as gifts but I was thinking some pre-tween may really like my teens Justin Beiber stuff Lol and NO I dont want any more Hubbys! lol He will get a kick ou of my typo lol
