Four for a Dollar is no more...

I have to pass on the sad news that I just received from Marshall, the baritone in Four for a Dollar at the Studios.

As of September 20, Four for a Dollar will no longer exist at the Studios. If you have never seen this wonderful a cappella preshow before Beauty and the Beast, you owe it to yourselves to squeeze in a visit before they're gone.

The guys in the group are tremendous musicians and wonderful friends, and they will be sorely missed.

Very sad. Such a wonderful, talented group of guys. Everyone I ever knew who saw them loved them...including me. :guilty:

Wow....they really are a highlight of our HS trip and will be missed by many I'm sure.
Please let your friend know how much my family (and I'm sure countless others) enjoyed their performances.
Glad I will get to see them one last time!!
9 days to go :cool1:

that is so sad.....we never watch beauty and the beast - we go to that theater just to see 4 for a $ and then leave before beauty and the beast comes on ....

another show we love leaving.....

That will be a great loss to DHS. I always enjoyed their pre show when I caught Beauty and the Beast. My timing is right this time I'll be able to catch them one last time during my next trip 9/12-9/20

That's too bad.:sad2: They put on a great show. We will see them next week for the last time. Sad to see them go.

i just told DD to be sure to see them when she's there in september...
when i told her they're getting rid of them, she started singing one of their songs - that's how much she likes them..
she bought one of their CDs last year...

Very disappointing. I actually enjoyed their warm-up show more than the Beauty and the Beast show.

That's VERY disappointing. I do believe that might just be the highlight of DD's last trip. She turned 10 while we were at WDW, and she got to go up on stage with them, and they sang to her. It was so magical! Magic or Money.... Hmmm, which is Disney picking????

If I were TPTB over at Universal I think I'd be snapping up all these talented people that Disney keeps tossing.

You know, I totally understand Disney is dealing with the economy like the rest of us...but I have always said "Disney is in the details" every theme park has rides and attractions, but the magical thing about Disney is all the little extras, like 4 for a Dollar and the Streetmosphere performers, DeVine at Animal Kingdom, the Candy Lady at Epcot, ect...if they start taking these things away and continue outsourcing so many things, what is going to be left to distinguish Disney from every other theme park out there?

There won't be anything, and while I can't imagine that I would ever quit going to Disney World, but I would quit telling my friends to go.

We were there last week, sweltering in the afternoon heat, waiting 15-20 minutes before the show. Their pre-show got our minds off it and got us in a great mood to enjoy the show. In a lot of ways, the pre-show was the show.

I'm sorry to hear they're being let go, but in these days of WDW cuts and homogenization, somehow I'm not surprised.

That is a shame - we all loved them here too

This is me:

I would go to B&B just to see them. That is one less reason for me to stay in the Studios in the afternoon. I think taking away the extras and not adding anything will make me re-think WDW for 2009. With all the other costs going up, if the entertainment value goes down it will not be worth it to me anymore. I don't care what new attraction goes in- it's the little things that make the magic for me. 4/$1 was one of the highlights of my last trip and I am really bummed that I won't be able to see them anymore.

Another especially sad aspect of this is that the general public does not get the chance to see or enjoy a cappella singing anymore. It is an American art form and unless you are involved in the barbershop community you might not even know about it. How sad, I love them each time we go to HS. I hope they will be able to continue with their quartet and entertain elsewhere.

A shame for certain. We love 4/$1 and without it there is no reason to go see B&B--it is a watered down half version of its former self anyway. Between the cuts they make and the shorter shows it is almost a why bother with both B&B and Little Mermaid. Such a shame. So many litle details and wonderful things being tossed away--it may be time for me to reevaluate my vacation habits. I think that althe cutbacks at the sudios will be having an impact on attendance--Fantasmic only a few dasy per week, getting rid of entertainment--why bother stopping at an already half day park if they keep making cuts--without Fantasmic to keep you there until dark who is going to stay all day?

you're right...
i assume they won't get rid of the singers in the american pavilion at epcot...perhaps that's a big assumption?
they've gotten rid of so many of the performances we love, like hunchback of notre dame at MGM - that was an amazing production....

pretty much off topic (other than they're a cappella singers), i love the straight no chaser version of 12 days of xmas:

although when i was in university, THE university a capella group was the Whiffenpoofs...

Funny you say that, but it happens quite often. I do not know anything about the future of the guys in Four for a Dollar, but I remember a time a few years back when similar faces/voices could be found in both DAK's Happy Campers and IOA's Grinchmas Who-Wops. Of course, Grinchmas was seasonal, and it is common for Disney castmembers to cross over and work seasonal events at Universal. I did three years as an actor for Halloween Horror Nights while working my day job at Disney, and I found it humorous how many of the scare-actors at HHN were also character performers at WDW. They had a lot of pent-up too-much-pixie-dust aggression that needed to be let loose as bloody creatures of the night!

What a shame... these guys are great. Better than the BATB show itself.
