Has anyone found that transportation from Fort Wilderness to the Disney Parks is a problem? I understand it is no problem if you want to go to the MK. How about getting to the other parks, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, MGM, Downtown Disney, et al.?

Welcome to the DIS, kparc. I'm glad you found us and I hope you can visit often.

I'm going to move this to our transportation board so that some of our veterans can offer advice on this topic.

We have never had any problem with transportaion. There is busses to Epcot , Animal kingdom and Mgm from FW. The wait is not long, usually from 5 to 15 mins. We always use the Fw transportation. They also have a direct bus to Downtown Disney.
We used to have to go to the TTC but now there is no need to.:sunny:

We like to have a car when we are there, and drive everywhere except the MK. I have waited for the internal FW bus to go to the outpost, then waited for the Downtown Disney bus, and it was a long trip! Waiting 15 minutes for a bus each time adds up. It is so quick to drive.

Just back from 8 days at FW and other than having to drive to find a camper store for a repair part, I never moved the vehicle from the site. Just rode Disney transportation everywhere. When you are just sitting there waiting, it seems like a long time but if you check the time when you sit down, very seldom ever waited 15 min for a bus anywhere. When I get some time, I'm going to ask Tyler some bus questions that my DW wondered about, but Tyler has always said, "If you want to know something about transportation, ask someone in purple pants" He was right. Had a great time while we were there and no hassle of fighting the traffic.

Never had a problem with any of the transportation at FW. Recently used the bus to get to Epcot, we didnt wait 5 mins for the bus to arrive and then we were there.

It sounds silly, I know... but it's so true. The folks in the Purple Pants will be your best source for transportation information. Anyone else, I'd be skeptical.

We usually never move the truck once the camper is in place. Never waited long for a bus at FW.................

My opinion contradicts everyone else's but here it is.

We just got back from FW last month and found the bus system to be HORRIBLE!!!!! On our first day, it took us 2 hours to ride the bus to EPCOT and another 2 hours to get home. We were waiting for the EPCOT bus for 45 minutes and that was after a long wait for our Yellow bus. During the first 30 minutes of that wait, we never saw another bus come into the depot that were going to any of the parks/locations. The only buses that were coming in were the Yellow/Orange/Purple buses. People were really getting mad about the wait and several spoke to the driver when he arrived but he could have cared less.

What's funny is that when you ask someone about the schedule, they tell you the external buses run every 15-20 minutes and the internal buses are every 10-15 minutes. One night after dinner at the Trails End, we had to wait for 25 minutes for a Yellow bus and when one finally did arrive, there was another right behind it. The second bus followed us all the way back to the 1700 loop. You would think when they get bunched up together that the second bus driver would have the good sense to stay at the bus stop and let there be an interval between them. We saw this happen several times - guess nobody monitors the bus schedules.

After these long waits, we started driving to all the parks except MK - after all the parking is free when you are staying at a Disney resort.
