Hello,

We are considering staying in a FW cabin. This would be our first time. It would be me, DH, and 4yo twin girls. Our trip will either be Dec. 18-23rd or Jan. 1 - 5th. Here are my questions. If you can answer any, I would much appreciate it. :flower3:

1) Has anyone stayed at FW in the winter? How was it?
2) Did they have any extra activities?
3) How is the transportation btw FW and the parks, resorts?
4) Is there any inconveniences that I should consider?
5) How would this be for 4yo girls?
6) Would you recommend it? Why?
7) Would you not recommend it? Why?
8) How is the restaurant?

Sorry to bombard you with so many questions. This will be our first time at FW. (2nd time at WDW with the girls.) It sounds like a great place, but I am concerned that staying there in the winter might not be the best choice.

Thanks for your help!!!

When our kids were younger (3 of them) we usually stayed in the cabins. It is so relaxing, you can put theh kids to bed and have the living area to enjoy, or the nice deck. The full kitchen is great, even if you only use it for breakfst and snacks. There is a queen size (I think its a queen) murphy bed in the living room so you could each have your own space. We have been there in February and it can be quite cool at night, the pools are heated and our kids always made use of them. The camp fire with movies and smores run all year, you might want to bring a blanket to wrap up in. We have never had a problem with the transportation, although some people do, Just realize you need to take internal busses to either the boat or the busses to the theme parks. They are very frequent, and our kids enjoyed them when they were that age (part of the fun). You can rent a golf cart which our kids loved. Trails End restaurant if nice and one of the better values and DW. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. Have a great trip.

We have always stayed at the cabins in Jan and love it. The dates you picked have a added bonus the Christmas decorations will be up but so will the crowds especially between Christmas and New Years when the highest number of guests are at WDW. The dates you picked have a much lower crowd level. If you are going this year make sure you make reservations as soon as possible because the Fort books up fast. Also make sure you take variety of clothes because it can be between 35 and 80 degrees. There are a lot of things to do including games and crafts every day at the Meadow's pool. You will have a great time and the kids will love it. I also agree with all the former poster said except that the big beds are double not queen size.

1.) It can get very cold! We took the boat to WL to have dinner and it was one cold boat ride. We ALWAYS take the boat when going over there or to MK/Epcot. But it was just tooo cold to do that. It was hard driving around in the golf cart. BUT this is FL and the weather is changing every second so it could be 80 or it could be 40.

3.) If you are going to MK/Epcot/WL/Pol./Floridian/contmp. I would tell you to take the boat. The boat will take you to WL/COntemp./MK. Then you can take the monorail from there. I think the busses are to slow and the boat/monorail is a lot more fun!

6.) YES! FW is a great choice! The girls will love it. You should rent a golf cart for at least a day, they will get a kick out of it!

8.) Trails End? It is really good! Huge all you can eat buffet. I think the food is great! I love going there before the parks so you have a nice full tummy :)

Have fun!

Bring lots of money LOL!!!!!!!! LOTS!!!

Dont forget your cart!!!

1) Has anyone stayed at FW in the winter? How was it? It is great, no heat/ humidity Bring both shorts and jackets/pants and you'll be covered for the weather. The wind off the lake gets cool for the ride to MK, just sit inside

2) Did they have any extra activities? The week before Christmas I know has some special things leading up to Christmas, but there are plenty of activities every day to keep you busy without ever going to a park
3) How is the transportation btw FW and the parks, resorts? takes 1/2 hour to get to MK, buses to elsewhere are the same as any resort (about an hour peak time)
4) Is there any inconveniences that I should consider? Just conveniences, refrigerator, kitchen, room to move around

5) How would this be for 4yo girls? My girl has loved the campground since she was 7 months and is now 6 and still has a great time. The beach is great for making sandcastles, the pool is clean and warm, the sing along campfire is so much fun, just walking and looking at everyone's Christmas decorations is great, also we love watching the MK fireworks every night, no matter which park you go to that day

6) Would you recommend it? Why? We love Fort Wilderness - best campground we've visited, so clean, quiet, activities galore

7) Would you not recommend it? Why? If you don't like to be in a regular spot, but like plusher hotels like the GF this is not for you, also there is no whirlpool/ hot tub

8) How is the restaurant? We really like it as it has something for everyone, but there is only that and the snack bar, so if you want variety, not a lot. The menu includes chicken, ribs, pizza, soups, salads, other variety by day. Also we have gone here for dinner one night then gotten take out other nights of pizza, nachos (come loaded or you can get to your liking) and eaten it either at our place or by the playgroung right around the edge of the building
