we are planning to take the family to disney world. We see that the cabins at fort wilderness seem to be a decent deal, because it will save us money on meals. Can anyone tell me if these cabins are a good deal? Website says they sleep 6. Are there 2 bedrooms? I'm open for suggestions

FW is a good value - especially if you can stay there at a discounted rate. We stayed here two years ago and loved it! We have 4 kids one had a broken leg. The unit we received was handicapped accessible so that she could be wheeled into the cabin. Some people do not like the fact that there is only one tv - but that didn't effect us at all. I also heard some people say it is dark. I have to agree but that adds to the ambience. There a very tall trees surrounding the cabins. One thing that was a surprise and a disappointment was the fact that the cabins were located relatively close to eachother. I thought they would be more remote. However, I never was awakened or disturbed by anyother guests during our 10 day stay.

There is only one bedroom with a bunk bed and full sized bed. There is a Murphy bed that pulls down in the living area. My hubbie and I slept on the Murphy bed and it was very comfortable. I thought it was much more comfortable than a pull out sofa.

The kitchen was very convenient. We used it only for breakfast and that saved us a lot of money. We also kept snacks, soft drinks and water in the refrig.

Hi there!

We're considering these cabins as well for a stay in October. I found some great photos of the cabins at

http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/g_ftw.htm

They kind of give you an idea of how they'll look. I believe there is one bedroom with a double bed and a set of bunk beds, plus a Murphy bed that pull out of the wall in the sitting area.

As for whether or not they are a good deal, we've priced it as a lower-cost alternative to booking a DVC villa that could accomodate 6 (yes, we're DVC members, but this upcoming trip will be a cash trip). Another alternative we're pursuing is booking 3 value rooms, but then we wouldn't have the cooking facilities. Plus, we like the rustic atmosphere of the area.

Hope that helps a bit!

Jackie
