Hi, we will be staying at one of the cabins in a few weeks. If anyone has stayed there recently can you tell me if the amenities include soaps and shampoos in the bathroom? Thanks!

I don't know the answer, but I think you will get a better response if you change the title of your post to "Fort Wilderness Cabins". They are seperate from the Wilderness Lodge.

Important point......if you're staying in a cabin, you are NOT booked at the Wilderness Lodge. The cabins are located at the Fort Wilderness Campground, which is a completely separate resort. They're both in the Bay Lake area, but the only thing that the two resorts share is the word "Wilderness" in the name. FW is a campground, with cabins, tent camping sites and trailer hookups. WL is a deluxe resort with hotel rooms.

Just wanting to avoid any surprises at check-in. :)

Wow! Could you have made Fort Wilderness sound any less appealing? Fort Wilderness is considered a moderate resort. They have many things in common with the other resorts, including 2 pools, hot tubs, boating, retaurants, etc. In fact Fort Wilderness has horseback riding, tennis, archery, arcades and the campfire-movies. It's a lovely resort and while I'm sure you didn't mean to make it sound like a KOA, if this person is a first timer they should know it is a fantastic resort and they will love it!

the cabins did have soaps and shapoo in Jan 2008 when we were there...we loved the cabins...you will have a great time...

Yes they do:cool1: & they are so "Neat" with a Mickey Mouse head on the bottles..I toured a cabin at FW just last wk & i was really impressed with what i saw :woohoo: & this is coming from someone who always stays CL at The "Grand Floridan" I liked the look of the cabins so much that i am seriously considering booking one for my next trip in a few months:)

Enjoy :dance3:

what is KOA?

KOA is a common campground found all across the country. Many cities have them for camping (tent) and RVs. They are okay and usually have pools. Nothing compares with Fort Wilderness as far as campgrounds go. It is beautiful, relaxing and fun. Many of the campers find so much to do that some come only for FW and never go into a park. We have stayed there 8 times and still have things we have never done.

I just checked out of a FW cabin a week ago. You get facial soap, bath soap, and a shampoo/conditioner combo for your hair. I usually take my own shampoo and use theirs as a shower gel (it smells great and doesn't dry my skin out as much as the soap does).

Thanks!
Since you were just there last week...do they provide those little packs of coffee for the coffee makers or should I bring my own?

Yes they have coffee packets for you to use on the small coffee maker as well, but if you want to use the 8 cup coffee maker you need to bring your own coffee and filters.

And they do resupply the coffee when they clean the cabin. However, the Disney coffee leaves a lot to be desired - if you can bring your own, you'll enjoy it more.

How far are these cabins from the boat launch and the beach....would you have to rent a cart to get around...

Hey MadisonWI....I am in Milwaukee! Madison is one of our favorite vacation spots!

Only if you want to. FW has its own internal bus system that makes round trips throughout to the beach, pools, store, etc. We camped there this past Nov/Dec. It is unlike any other campground we have ever stayed at. And we own 2 memberships in a really nice campground resort close to where we live.

We (2A, 3C) stayed in a cabin last summer and really enjoyed it.
We did not rent a golf cart. We relied on the buses to get
around and it was fine.

They are not just in one area. Seems to me I remember most loops near the entrance. Check out the resort's map to see the breakdown and location of the cabin loops. We rented a golf cart and had a blast. We wanted to try something new and it was fun. We could have walked, but it was sure nice to find our cart parked, and at the boat launch area after a long day as we were in the 2500 loop near the front. Enjoy your vacation!:goodvibes:goodvibes
