I loved the cabins!
we stayed there for easter a couple years ago (dh, myself, 2 kids). we rented a golf cart ahead of time for our week there. if you want one and don't rent ahead of time, you might not get one. That was the kids favorite part of the trip. we'd cart around the grounds... grab a snack, drive, stop at playgrounds, gator hunt, cane-pole fish, etc, etc. It was really great!
The campfire/movie is wonderful. I remember one night sitting there watching the movie and you could hear the electric light parade a little from the beach, and you could see the fireworks over the tips of the trees (you couldn't really *see* them, but the sky was lighting up and you saw just the tip tops a little), and it was a warm, starry night, and I started tearing up thinking what a wonderful trip we were having and how great it was staying there.
We were lucky enough to be close to the laundry - and taking the cart to do laundry was definitely fun! I also remember walking in the woods behind the beach (we had just had dinner at Trails End, the kids were on the playset and i was videoing the grounds)... I yell to dh "i hear music!" It was a twangy frontier-type music piped in that area. DH is always making fun of me for being such a disney-nut. I'm always going on and on about how the resorts are so heavily themed it's just *magic*, and they each have their own piped-in music. Again, i start tearing because i'm just so happy we're there and it's such a wonderful resort.
The cabin itself was really great too! DH slept on the murphy bed in the livingroom and said it was way more comfy than a pull-out. The kids loved playing on the bunk beds. The kitchen was very handy, the livingroom/eating area were also very nice! We cooked 2 nights... dh bbq'd keilbasa and we made spaghetti (very easy and such a nice break from restaurant food!), and another night we bbq'd pork chops and made a noodle-packet thingie. If we didn't have the golf cart, it would have been ok, but not as fun. The campfire/movie were a hike from where we were, but they have internal bussing. That's probably the complaint about the trans... you internal bus if you don't have a cart to the boat dock or the outside bus station, then you take the boat or bus to your park. or you internal bus to the pools, shops, etc. We loved hoping on our golf cart. VERY worth the money, imho! I forget how much it was, but when i added the broken down cost to the cabin cost, and I told dh *that* cost and said it included a golf cart, it sounded very reasonable.
The loops that the cabins are on are like a little neighborhood and adorable! And the other camping guests are SO friendly... we met a lot of people who are retired and have camp sites there a few months out of the year and they practically live there. There campsites are really neat to see! Strung-up lights all over, decorations, big blow-up easter bunnies (it was easter time). At the pool, they have kids games, etc, and again, we met a lot of rv'ers who frequent there - some come almost every weekend and all summer. It's like their second home. Even though it's a campground, it's still resort-y... the shops are very nice and just like the ones at the other resorts. I never felt it was lacking in any way, and we always stay deluxe or villa (except our last trip we stayed POFQ).
Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
