We've decided to add Memorial Day weekend to our plans and guess what ?? the Fort is booked solid...big suprise  I've been calling everyday and checking the website several times a day. So far I haven't gotten lucky and the closer it gets (we leave on the 23rd) I'm more and more positive that we'll have to stay offsite. I've made emergency ressies at FS just incase I don't get FW.

Here's Fort Summits website
http://www.fortsummit.com/

I called today and the lady was really really nice (which is usually a good sign) The rates are great @ $44 especially for the holiday weekend.

Any Dis'ers have any experience there? How are the bathhouses? Are there any sites that are better than others? We've paid for a pull though with the idea that since it was the most expensive we should be closer to the pools. The sites are suppose to be all the same size. I'd love to see a map of the grounds but so far I haven't been able to find one.

We are AP passholders so we'll drive the 8 or so miles even though they have transportation.

Talk about Disney mania...with our new dates we'll be there from the girls last day of school May 23rd - 28th (offsite) then to June 12th at FW...not bad :cool1:

I have ressies there for my first night in FLa of my Oct. vacation because FW was booked...let me know how you thought the place was after your stay PLEASE!!!! Thanks! Janet

I checked a couple of review sites and the reviews were terrible. I'm thinking I messed up....when DH gets home I will talk it over with him but I'm really nervous  :scared1: :upsidedow

No matter where we stay, if it is offsite I will post a review :)

thanks...I actually had the site sent to me from another poster ....without a review...just a multiple listing...since I'm only going to be there for one night it can't be too bad...I'll just get up and drive off early the next day and park in overflow and do our thing from there...but if you do stay I'd like to hear what you have to say....i know I've stayed in some awful parks on various trips..the one thing that would make a huge difference would be it would only be for sleep...not recreation per say in that rv park!

We spent a week there in 2002. Camp site sucked as far as a campground goes. All grass site nothing but the electric pole between you and the next guy. Will never go back.

Darn, that is pretty much what the reviews I found said. Guess I should have did more research before I put the deposit. The website looked so great I just assumed the campground was as great as it claimed to be.

I did find the Orlando Kissimmee KOA has very good reviews and what impressed me the most so far is there are TV's in the bathhouses. Thats gotta mean they're clean right :lmao: geez what a mess!

Have you tried Bill Frederick Park @ Turkey Lake. It's over behind Universal Studios a little east of Disney but it was only $15 a night. I know it's a long shot but try and see.

(407) -299-5581 Make sure you tell them you only need electric and water.

BTW, it was very shady and nice comfort stations. Just looked but they were clean. I will stay again if we go to Universal or I need to add days to FW stays.

Thank you for the info...it seems like a really nice place. By the time I called it was closed...as was the KOA. Well hell, I can't catch a break!!

After dinner I decided to give FW another try and guess what ??? I got a spot..not ideal (power / water only) but heck its on site. I'm gonna call in the morning to get our two ressies connected and add the pets to the ressie. I was suprised there wasn't a spot online to add the pups. :cool1: :thumbsup2 someone was watching out for me, after all that I deserve a beer
:yay: :woohoo:

thanks again everyone for your suggestions...we're going to stay at FW and take a chance on ending up in a tent for 2 days. I have my fingers crossed that something will come up!! heres what we have now

5/24 - 5/26 prefered site
5/26 - 5/28 tent
5/28 - 6/11 prefered site

I'll need some pixie dust for sure :wizard: lordy it'll be hot in the tent

You might want to try the Thousand Trails campground on rt 23 or rt 28( I think) they do rent to none members and that is their slow time @ that reserve. Nice camp ground and very clean bath houses.
