Forrest Gump?

And that's all I have to say about that. :sunny:

Youre cracking me up tonight, Cardaway!!!!!! :lmao:

And, BTW, I agree with you. I think the whole thing is over a 12 yo. head and is too adult in subject matters.

I'm glad, but sadly I don't think we agree. I think at the very least the incest references and scene with the guy form the school would not go over their head and may have a pretty harsh impact. Nobody even touched on the scenes in Nam which some people find to be some of the most horrific and realistic.

I agree that previewing the movie yourself is a good idea. And what a great movie to preview! :thumbsup2

I think Forest Gump would be fine for a 12 year old
My mom let me watch r rated movies at that age of course mating scenes were skipped over.
I dont think there is anythin too bad in forest gump.
its an awesome movie,

That's what I meant by Too Adult in Subject Matters. I wouldn't let my 12 yo. watch it. Very harsh realities being dealt with and maybe I'm too protective, but I will guard my kids' innocence as long as possible.

I Personally I don't think it's too much for 12yo, but the OP made it sound like it might be for their child. If they are still at the point where they are watching for a movies content, then maybe it's not the movie for them.

MY DS12 has seen it. We watched it together.

There are a few "questionable" scenes (have to admit I forgot about the scene w/the principal until it came on  ). Personally I think context has alot to do with what I will let my kids watch.

I agree with the "you watch it first" suggestion.

I think it is age appropriate for a 12 year old.

There is a lot of subjects covered in this movie (sex, nudity, illness, war, child abuse, discrimination, racism, drug abuse, alchoholism) just to name a few, however it is all discreetly done. Almost nothing is outright shown on the screen, it is mostly alluded too so a lot may go over a 12 year olds head. But I think that a lot can be learned and understood from this movie because of the way things are explained (it is kind of through Forrest's eyes, and he probably has about the same mentality of a 12 year old).

However, that being said, I would probably still recommend you viewing the movie first and making the decision for your child.
