Hi, I'm new to the site! I'll be travelling to WDW on May 30th with my husband, DD (3 years old) and 7 month old twins. We are staying at the ASSports complex for a few days and will be doing 1 day at MK. We are arriving late at night by plane and are planning to go to MK the next morning. My question is how do you bring formula to the park? Both powdered and concentrate formula need to be mixed with water that has been boiled for 3 minutes. There is no kitchenette at the ASSports so I won't be able to boil water. I could use distilled water, but won't arrive before Stores close! Bringing readymade is too heavy and costly for twins! What would you do???

I don't recall boiling water to make formula. As long as the bottles were sterile, I used tap water with powder. Are you using a special formula that requires boiled water? There are microwaves available in the food courts and you could boil water there, though it may be closed depending how late you arrive. Could you bring some ready-made just for the first night? As for the parks, you may be able to request (be prepared to buy) a cup of hot water any place that sells hot tea. But again, I'd check if boiled water is an absolute necessity.

Enjoy your vacation!

I never boiled water to make formula for any of my 3 kids and I never heard of having to boil water. I just use bottled water. Don't use distilled - just regular drinking water.

I'd go through Garden Grocer or Amazon and get a case of bottled water delivered to your resort.

make sure your twins will drink what ever formula you will be using if different from what you use at home. both of my daughters used plain or nursery bottled water for making formula neither boiled before using for their babies

Admittedly I've never used formula, but I've never known anyone to boil water to mix with it. And I've always thought it wasn't good to drink distilled water? Whatever you end up doing, you can always carry a small amount of water with you and then purchase (or have delivered) more the next day.

I think boiled is a bit old school now a days.
The last one that had boiled water for formula in my family was my niece who is now 18.
We just got it from the filtered part of our fridge after that.
My suggestion is just use bottled water.

Yikes, we just used tap water. Bottled when we traveled though we weren't too picky about brands and such. Only problem I had was if we had ice cold water it wouldn't mix well. We started buying a bottle ahead so we had a room temp one ready at all times.

We also did spring for ready-made for travel days. They are a bit bulky but you can get a case on Amazon for a somewhat reasonable price, and those things were really sanity-saving at certain times! We got the two-ounce little ones since we would only waste a little bit at a time.

But if you are on some special medical formula or for some other reason you do need to boil, maybe bring a small electric kettle? I can't imagine hiking to the food court every few hours. Maybe call ahead and see if they will put a microwave in your room as more of a medical thing?
And a thermos - boil the water in your room in bulk (or at the food court or wherever), and then bring a thermos of just the boiled water to the parks. When you're there, mix up (and if it's cool by then, reheat using a half-filled hot water mug. Table service will definitely provide one, quick service is hit or miss).

I don't know if the baby care centers have microwaves, but if not, you may at least find them willing to help you somehow while you're in the park...

You may find table service willing to boil for that long too...not really sure.

I wish you good luck!

I never boiled the water either. If you are worked about sterile water... maybe try a grocery delivery. If your kids are used to having it hot... maybe bring a bottle warmer for the room and use a microwave at the baby centers? One thing I loved when traveling was the little plastic premeasured formula holders. I think munchkin makes them. You premeasured the amount you need and put it in the slots. Then I just dumped, shook it up and was all set.

Add me to the never boiled water list. Dd was even premature. At wdw we would bring a couple water bottles and preportioned powder and mix on the fly.

Mom of 5 (including twins), never heard of boiling water to make bottles (which I never sterilized, babies need clean, bottles that are touched are no longer sterile). In fact, was told not to boil tap water in case there was lead in the pipes, concentrating it.

If you aren't comfortable with tap water, just get bottled water. Don't your kids drink water that hasn't been boiled?

We used powdered formula and tap water in clean bottles. Added powder to the premeasured water when ready for use.

at vacations without a kitchen you can't use boiled water, buy Baby Nursery water and with twins I assume you have a big stroller, bring a big bottle of wate and the formula, a couple of bottles and you will find a Baby center on each park with a microwave to reheat the water.

Thanks everyone, I'll look into it. The brand of formula we are using stipulates to use boiled water, but ill see what else we can do

While I didn't use ready to go formula at home, I always did on vacation. It is expensive, but it eliminated the issue of finding water. I didn't bring it on the plane; I had it delivered to the resort from a grocery delivery service.

It might be one of those things where they recommend boiled but in a pinch it is fine- I'd email the company. Like, my kids drank skim milk on vacation as toddlers but whole milk 99% of the time at home. But- if you go off the norm, I would try it at home first. It would be miserable if they won't eat or get sick!

Or... look at this! It might not totally boil it, but some heat is better than none!

all brands do, ask your pediatrician if is ok to use specific Baby Nursery water or if any bottle water will do.
We all know about the boiling water rule, but is a very generic recommendation, obviously it saves $ to boil your tap water and you can continue to do it at home, my recommendation is specifically for the trip, the best route is to get baby water once home you can keep boiling it's OK if that's what you prefer. Have a great trip!!!:thumbsup2

Okay, I boiled our water before making formula. I did it for almost a year. And I did it based on the recommendation of his doctor.

What about a hot water kettle. They heat to boiling. Would that work?

I also boiled water then cooled it for mixing with formula until my kids were 3 months old - also under doctor's recommendation. After that I used straight from the tap at home and regular bottled water when we traveled.
Electric kettle sounds like a good option.
