We stayed in a villa on Formosa Gardens in January. We are now planning to return in Feb 2009 but have not booked anything yet. We don't need a big place this time, so are just looking for a 4 bed probably.

We found Formosa Gardens to be a lovely base to work from! The villa and pool were beautiful, the estate nice and peaceful and the location was great.....

So my question is......
Do any other 'estates' compare? Has anyone stayed at Formosa and on another estate and is able to compare them??
We would not be interested in any communal facilities btw......

Thanks in advance,

Hi Ali,

The location is perfect, close to a Publix (at Orange Lake), restaurants such as Outback, Bob Evans and Golden Corral all closeby plus 10 minutes or so from WDW and the I4 handy for Universal etc too.

I have never actually stayed at the Formosa Gardens development itself but have stayed at nearby Indian Creek and are staying at Windsor Palms this August.
Having driven around many of the homes I prefer WP slightly to FG as the villas are newer, Emerald Island is also very nice.
Both these have a community pool and clubhouse also, which is a plus point.
However, if you see a home you really like at Formosa Gardens it is definitely a good choice. Probably going back 5 years or so it was THE place to stay, along with Rolling Hills, but I guess staying in a villa has become so much more popular the choice is now vast.

Many of the homes I have seen on FG are 5 bedrooms or bigger, which is the main reason we haven't stayed there.

What I would really like from a villa development is more activities on-site, for me that's the only drawback of staying in a private home.

Terre Verde which is located on Poinciana Boulevard is one development that is worth considering, probably the best communal facilities in the Kissimmee area.

Hi Johnny and thanks for your reply :thumbsup2
The main reason for us looking elsewhere is because we really only need 3 bed this time but as you say, it seems the smallest villa is a 4 bed on FG.
I emailed a villa company yesterday who said that they charge pretty much the same rate for a 4 and a 5 bed on FG :confused3 which makes me think we might be paying over the top prices just to be on FG :confused3
Last visit is suited us fine as my parents were with us and it was nice to have the extra space.......

Off the top of your head, if we were to compare the price of a 4 bed on FG with a 4 bed on WP, would they be pretty similar??

Hope you are keeping well and looking forward to your Aug trip :)

Formosa Gardens is the only short-term rental community in the area with half-acre plots and, on that basus, other estates don't compare. There are 3 gated resort villa communities in the Formosa Gardens area that have smaller plots and 4- bed villas plus resort facilities (clubhouse, games, etc) - Windsor Hills, Windsor Palms and Emerald Island.

Thanks for your reply :thumbsup2

Just having a look on the web now and have to say that I do like the size of the plots on FG, it's probably one of things that really appealed to us.....

Hi Ali,

I think Formosa Gardens has over the years been regarded as more 'upmarket' than some of the other developments. Personally it does put me off slightly when many of the homes are 6, 7 bedroomed etc

As far as prices go, I would estimate Windsor Palms would be slightly cheaper than Formosa Gardens, although naturally different owners charge different prices.
We are quite friendly with some owners on Indian Creek and they have charged us less for a 5 bed than many did for a 4.

Also compared to 4/5 bedroomed homes it can be difficult to find a a nice 3 bedroomed villa, there are just not as many of them around.

We are fine thanks and yes looking forward to August.

Have a look at Sunset Lakes - the homes are spacious, and most of them have great lake views, it's the next community on for Emerald Isle

Have a look at www.villatorent.net, as this site offers a good choice of accommodation within Formosa Gardens and surrounding areas.

I have used them in the past and stayed at one of the 4 bedroom homes overlooking the lake.

We have stayed in vills in Rolling Hills,Formosa Gardens,Indian Creek many times and have used this site - we have never had a problem with any of the houses.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks for your replies, I'm still looking around and weighing up the options ;)

Paul - we booked with villatorent last time, the guy who we dealt with was really helpful but unfortunately, he has no availability apart from a place which is too big for us :sad1:

Thanks again,
