You're welcome! :goodvibes I'll definitely give her your message. :thumbsup2

That is just the best news! I am so glad you got to talk to her and she is doing so well. Is everyone else just amazed at how quickly she is up and moving around? It's not like this was a little surgery. I am so happy for her!

I know! I'm so happy and amazed that she's doing so well. She sounded very chipper when I talked to her, so that's a great sign. Honu herself is amazed at how good she feels. She said thank you to everyone who has been praying for her and sending good wishes.

tigger, thanks from me too. So glad to read that she's doing so well. Leave it to her to turn a serious operation into an opportunity for scouting out cute doctors. :rotfl: She's such a sweetheart. Hopefully she continues to just need Tylenol and nothing stronger.

I still have a Monkees CD.. Okay, All of them., :lovestruc

:

I have a couple of the orignal Monkees Alubm's I have several of the orignial Beatles Ablums.

The first concert I went to was the on Sep 06,1964 I was 14 and I went to see the BEATLES I saw them again on Aug 13,1966.

My latest Concert was the summer (2005) when the Backstreet Boys made their comeback after a 5 year hiatus.
I been to many concerts, But I only appeared on stage with a famous musical group once.

On November 7,1999 we (my DD almost 16 years at the time and I) were guests backstage in the Hospitality room (where usually only friends and family of the Backstreet Boys are invited and we (DD and I were invited onstage with The Backstreet Boys while they sang their "Perfect Fan" song.

How we got to meet The Backstreet Boys!

My daughter (Cathy, whose 16 birthday was November 12,1999) and I were going to see The Backstreet Boys on Saturday, November 6th at The Palace in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

Well, when we were at The Backstreet Boys concert on Sunday, October 17th in Vegas I met Marc Preston who was Howie's (one of the Backstreet Boys) bodyguard. Marc was the person who before each of the shows (that year) would Choose 5 mothers and daughters to go up onstage during the song "The Perfect Fan" which the guys dedicate to the mothers.

When we were in Vegas I told Marc we were going to the Michigan concert in November and asked if Cathy and I could go on stage for that song.
Marc gave me his cell # and told me to call him that night.

When I called Marc said the radio station had chosen the guests for that night but told us to enjoy the concert that night and he would put us onstage the following night.
We told him we did not have tickets for the following night.
Marc told us to come early and call his cell. We met him by the backstage door and he put us in the hospitality room. He said normally only the family members and very close friends of the band were allowed in that room. Cathy and I got to meet AJ, Nick, (he used to be her favorite) and Howie backstage and had her photo taken with them.

Cathy and I went onstage with Kevin. We sat on steps up onstage while each of the guys introduced the moms and daughters. Kevin smiled at Cathy and made some small talk. He made Cathy feel so special. Then the moms sat on the steps while each of the guys walked a girl around the stage while signing "Perfect Fan."
Cathy got to walk with Kevin Richardson (he worked at WDW before he became a Backstreet Boy as Aladdin). After the song the guys came back for the moms and walked all of us offstage. When Kevin walked Cathy offstage he gave her a long hug, brushed her hair back and gave her a kiss on the cheek. She was in HEAVEN. Kevin had given her a kiss. What a wonderful sweet 16 memory!

TIGGERFAN:

Thank you for the update on HONU-- I am so glad she is doing so well. Our prayers and well wishes and pixie dust will continue. We miss her!!

Honu update!!!!!

I called the hospital again and I got to talk to Honu!!! :woohoo::cool1::banana: We ended up chatting for almost two hours. She is doing very well. Fortunately, she is still mostly pain-free. She thought that she was going to have to take some major medication, but all she has been taking is Tylenol. Amazing!!! :cheer2: She was able to walk around today and was able to walk all the way to the hospital's gift shop. It was a little tiring for her, but she still made it! She said that she may be able to leave the hospital in the next couple of days. She'll be staying in the hospital's hotel when she get's "sprung". Oh, and she said that she met a couple of cute neurosurgery guys. Hey, hey, hey!!! ;) :cool1: Sadly, the guy that was cuter recently went on vacation. Too bad. :guilty: (Honu, are you getting pictures of these guys? I hope so!)

I asked her if she had gotten our messages and she said yes!! She also told me that she got all the cards, the quilt and all of the other gifts that you guys sent. She was so surprised and thrilled. She said thank you to everyone. She'll come on the DIS later tonight or tomorrow so that she can tell you herself. DisneyMomOK, Honu LOVED the McDreamy card!!

(By the way, Debbieandroo, I asked her how she did at bingo. She said that she wasn't able to join in the bingo game because it was too far from her hospital room. The doctor won't let her walk around too much. She was really disappointed because she was really looking forward to that! The girl's gotta have her bingo fix! :rotfl2:)

She seems to be really happy at the hospital. She said that everyone is really friendly and caring. She said that the food is great, too! She read me the menu. So far she has had meatloaf, turkey, chicken enchiladas, potstickers, creme brulee (yes, creme brulee!!!) and a lot of other great dishes. They even have shrimp, steak, pizza, key lime pie and tons of other great choices. She said it's like eating in a 5-star restaurant! And yes, they also have Jello. They wouldn't be a real hospital if they didn't have Jello. :lmao:

I told her that we all said hi and that we're keeping her in our thoughts and prayers. You should all be hearing from her soon. I will give her another call tomorrow. :thumbsup2

Well, that's all folks! I'll keep you guys posted if I get any more news. :teeth:

oh TIG, that's wonderful news!!!! I can't believe that she got the package already! I can't say anything mean about the postal service ever again.

Thank you again for keeping us posted. If you talk to her again, could you ask her about her hotel? I have more goodies to send her...

Yay - this made my night!!!

Linda, I was a huge BSB fan myself in the 90s. Nick and Brian were my favorites. I still enjoy their music, and Brian's Gospel music. What a wonderful story, and how neat for you and your DD. Thanks for sharing. I saw them myself back in 1998 when they held a small concert at Sea World in Orlando. We managed to get seats in the 4th or 5th row. I'd say to this day, that's still my favorite concert out of all the ones I went to. They really put on a show.

You're welcome! :goodvibes I hope that she'll won't need anything stronger than Tylenol, too.

Yup, she's always on the lookout for a hot guy no matter where she is. She's a true Pi Beta Alpha girl!! :rotfl:

You're welcome! :goodvibes She said that she misses everyone, too. Yes, please keep praying and sending well wishes and pixie dust. The prayers and pixie dust are obviously working!

I take back all the bad things that I've ever said about the postal service, too. :rotfl: I will definitely ask her about her hotel when I talk to her again. She may not find out for another day or two, though. Do you want me to tell her that there are more goodies in store for her or would you like me to keep it a secret?

I am glad you got to see them at Sea World . That must have been awesome to see them there and what great seats! Was the concert and stage set outside?

I also really liked the Backstreet Boys music and I thought their concerts were always excelent. I was happy my DD chose such a nice group of guys for her fav group band and that we share good memories of seeing them in concert and listing to their music together. I think the love of their music helped us to bond.

Yeah, it's fine to tell her about packages coming her way. Mrsdon sent her something too and I would hate for it to get misdirected because Honu wasn't expecting it. Also, I'm expecting a couple more things to send her way - probably will be a few cards - not a package [I think that is the case].

This is so cool!!! Thank you again for letting us know...I am totally ragging Soarin for not keeping us posted. [to her credit, I think she had to work today].

Yes, I had to work tonight but I talked to Honu briefly via text messages. Basically.... everything Tig posted. :teeth:

Thanks for the Honu update, Tiggerfan! Even though I suck and never got around to sending out a card for her, she has had my prayers. I am thrilled to hear she's doing well.

You guys that sent her cards and gifts rock! That's so sweet and I'm sure it lifted her spirits. We all know happy thoughts lead to a faster recovery. :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Ok, good to know. Thanks! I'll tell Honu about this when I talk to her again.

No need to rag on Soarin. I know she's been busy with work.........and other things. :rolleyes1

Hey, Soarin! I've been dying to hear some more WC news. Please keep me updated by email!! By the way, I've got an important email coming up for you. You may have already heard the news, though.

You're welcome! :goodvibes It's not too late to send your well wishes to Honu. You can still send her a message on MD Anderson's website. You just have to put Honu's real first and last name and your name (your DIS user name is fine) and email. Here's the link:

That's our honu! Thanks for the update, tiggerfan1. I love Tigger, by the way. :goodvibes

I have a question for y'all. I posed it to the theme park board as well, but would like to get the opines of all the folks here who have followed my mom's health struggles. She's doing really well, btw. Finished her 2nd week of radiation today, and actually has more energy than before. Hmm. Don't think that's how it usually works, but okay. She's flitting around more than me, despite this and despite the fact she's got 30+ years on me! :lmao: Anyway, for our upcoming trip, I really want to do something special for her to surprise her with. Y'all read about my ADRs before, so no more ADRs needed. She wouldn't like a spa or golf day, and the cruises wouldn't be her thing either (they'd be mine, but that's not the point of this :rotfl: ). We're already probably doing two tours (Safari and Behind the Seeds), so don't need another one. We saw a show very similar to Cirque in SC a few years ago, so no need to see that either.

I looked at the gift baskets on the Disney Florists website, but didn't see anything she'd like. I don't know if they can custom make them or not. I know she wouldn't want flowers; she thinks they're a waste of $$$. Can't get a cake because we'll have one for my birthday.

I just have no clue what to do! Mu budget is limited, but I could do around $50-$100. Maybe a little more. If any of y'all have suggestions, I'd so appreciate that. She loved the Mickey Mouse Club as a child, loves Cinderella (first movie she ever saw), and loves the song "Once Upon A Dream." How I translate any of that into a surprise, beats me.

i haven't a clue how much it costs, but you can go on a yacht tour...i think you can book it at the GR. my friend did this for a birthday celebration and they loved it.

:grouphug: awww, I knew you had to work...thanks!
Debbie, get un-idle on Facebook and talk to me for a few!:thumbsup2

I just checked my mail and :confused3. Haven't gotten anything from ya.

Well, that thought did cross my mind, but it's his birthday and he wants to get the shopping card and I have to show his birth certificate.

i think the pass is good for the entire term of the pass, regardless of the age change. imagine how many times this happens!
