Former Lasagne Lovers Meet Here!!!

There was a post a few pages back that she was doing well and was in little pain or something to that effect. Sounds like all went well.

About Honu, Tiggerfan1 said that she [Honu] had spoken to Soarin' the night of her surgery! And that she was in no pain!!!! I still can't believe it!

Yeah, I had a feeling that Memphis was sunk when, in the last second of the first half, Mizzou made a basket from the other side of the court. They were hot, we were not...

In case anyone missed it.
If anyone wants an update on Honu, I have it!!!! She called me about an hour ago!!!!!!!! That's right, she CALLED me!!! She's very alert and she said she's in zero pain! I couldn't believe it when my phone showed an incoming call from her! She spent quite a while in recovery but is in her room resting now. She said she'd call me again tomorrow if she's feeling up to it. But pain-free less than 24 hours post-op is a great sign, don't you ladies think?

The half court shot sure changed the momentum. There have been times, you could see the team as they left the hotel and knew they were going to lose. Sometimes, you can just sense it.

I honestly couldn't remember, so I googled it. Only article I could find quickly said he was myopically focused on his career, and it led to their breakup. Also said he got married a second time in the 70s, but it only lasted a few months before he divorced that wife.

Remember too he was the unfortunate soul who grew up thinking his mother was really his sister. :sad2: I believe that happened to Jack Nicholson as well. I know babies born out of wedlock were looked down upon even more then than they are now, but wow... I can't imagine what that must've been like, to find that information out later in life. How awful.

thanks for the information, SD. You do have to wonder if that family dynamic had him too detached to make a true commitment to Sandra Dee. JN seems pretty bizarre in his personal life, too.:sad2:

I mailed her a package a couple of days ago
I hope Houn gets it
OHHH and I LOVED Bobby
I cried everytime I heard UP In A Tree
Yup, I was a geek

I'm glad you did that! I did send her a message through that link to the hospital to expect a package - so hopefully she'll be looking for it/them.

I wonder if Bill will put the ears on??:lmao:

Thanks, again, Debbie for sending our stuff to honu. I cannot wait to hear about her reaction to the McDreamy card. It was so funny, when I saw it! I knew it was on that rack for a purpose!:lmao:

Ditto! Let us know when she receives it.:)

Hello everyone! I called MD Anderson a little while ago to try to speak to Honu, but no one picked up the phone in her room. She may have been sleeping or hanging out in the patient's lounge or something. I will call again in another hour or so. I'll let you know what she says when I get to talk to her! :thumbsup2

DisneyMomOK- That's awesome that you found a McDreamy card!!! I'm sure she'll get a kick out of that! :rotfl:

Thank you, Tiggerfan! I am just so thankful her surgery went well. I know all of us were so worried, it was such a dangerous surgery.

You're welcome! I was really concerned too, but somehow I knew deep down that everything was going to be OK. It was a miracle that she was even able to have the surgery this soon because her endocrinologist wasn't willing to approve the surgery for a while. Thank God that everything worked out! :cool1: I'm still amazed that she was doing so well just a few hours after her surgery.

well, my big question is....

how did she do in bingo???? [hope she was easy on 'em over there...]

thanks, Tig, for all the updates. Honu sure is blessed to have a great friend like you

and, Disneymomok - go Oklahoma! [this is the right Oklahoma, isn't it?]

I'm sure she left 'em all in the dust! Show 'em no mercy, Honu!!! :rotfl2:

That's our honu! Thanks for the update, tiggerfan1. I love Tigger, by the way. :goodvibes

I have a question for y'all. I posed it to the theme park board as well, but would like to get the opines of all the folks here who have followed my mom's health struggles. She's doing really well, btw. Finished her 2nd week of radiation today, and actually has more energy than before. Hmm. Don't think that's how it usually works, but okay. She's flitting around more than me, despite this and despite the fact she's got 30+ years on me! :lmao: Anyway, for our upcoming trip, I really want to do something special for her to surprise her with. Y'all read about my ADRs before, so no more ADRs needed. She wouldn't like a spa or golf day, and the cruises wouldn't be her thing either (they'd be mine, but that's not the point of this :rotfl: ). We're already probably doing two tours (Safari and Behind the Seeds), so don't need another one. We saw a show very similar to Cirque in SC a few years ago, so no need to see that either.

I looked at the gift baskets on the Disney Florists website, but didn't see anything she'd like. I don't know if they can custom make them or not. I know she wouldn't want flowers; she thinks they're a waste of $$$. Can't get a cake because we'll have one for my birthday.

I just have no clue what to do! Mu budget is limited, but I could do around $50-$100. Maybe a little more. If any of y'all have suggestions, I'd so appreciate that. She loved the Mickey Mouse Club as a child, loves Cinderella (first movie she ever saw), and loves the song "Once Upon A Dream." How I translate any of that into a surprise, beats me.

Ted Bundy grew up believing the same thing:scared1:!

That's our honu!

If you call Disney florist, you can ask for Peggy. She is FeralPeg on the DIS and a very sweet woman. She might be able to make a Disney Florist basket with the Cinderella movie, a chocolate slipper, a music box that plays "Once Upon a Dream" or a combination of the 3. She's very clever and used to own her own company where she made special baskets.

I think a big part of it was honu's positive attitude and wanting this surgery so much. She is so brave! Such a great girl!
