Formal night on 5 night cruise?

Going on a 5 night magic cruise. Anyone know will there be a formal night?

I believe there is only an 'optional dress up night' for cruises less than 7 nights.

If there was one, it didn’t impact me. I do think they were taking photos in the atrium; that was probably the night.

There is no ‘formal night’ on cruises shorter than 7 nights. There is only an optional dress-up night. It doesn‘t change much of anything since it is not enforced in any way and a lot of guests simply disregard it. You can dress up any evening if you wish to do so.

Some guests dress for dinner on optional dress up nights, so if you want to dress up for the MDR, that's when you should.

It's the same for formal nights, which are also optional because DCL doesn't enforce any kind of dress code in the MDR beyond not just wearing your bathing suit, etc. So you always have a mish mash of some people dressing on these nights, and some people wearing t-shirts & baseball caps, unfortunately.

I've done two 5-nights in the last six months and there was nothing at all, not even "optional dress-up." It was casual, casual, pirate, casual, casual both times.

Disney does a very poor job communicating on this. I'm doing a 7 night Alaska in a few weeks and if I wasn't on message boards and Facebook, I'd have no clue that I should be packing an outfit for a formal night. I had never even heard of Pirate Night until two nights into my first sailing. If they want people to dress a certain way, they need to publish some actual information (not buried in FAQs somewhere) before people pack.
