I have only flown once, and that was for our April 2006 trip. So needless to say, I am clueless when it comes to flying.

I have booked our June 2008 trip, and found a great Delta deal: non stop, round trip for $220 a person. So I hopped on that one!

I have been watching the rates, well, because I am nosey. ;) I noticed the flight home was almost booked with 8 mos to go! Plus rates jumped to over $300.

So now, the flight is not showing on the reservation page when I search but it is on the flight schedule. Does this mean the flight is sold or that they canceled it? I booked directly from the Delta site and have not received a notice of any changes.

If you pretend to book an unrestricted refundable higher fare (don't actually go so far as to buy), flights that might be sold out for lower price ranges may pop into view on your screen.

If the flight was cancelled, or profoundly changed timewise, you can choose something else without paying more.

With this far in advance, you don't have to choose quickly, but even if the flight still exists, you would probably lose your seat selections with any time change. You must telephone (not email) to reselect seats, or choose another flight if your was cancelled. In the latter case, it helps to have something in mind, check the schedule on line before telephoning.

Do you have a printout of what you booked? Always do a print screen (takes more than hitting the Prt Scrn button) of anything you book or buy or order on line.

I have the email they sent me with my eticket/reciept.

It was when I was pretending to book the flight that my flight does not come up. But if I go and look at the flight schedule, my flight is still there. So since my flight is still on the schedule it has not been canceled, correct?

We have reservations and if you don't specifically request them to e-mail you every time something changes they won't. That being said if you have your confirmation number go to the Delta site and I believe it is under itineraries - you can check your flights and seat assignments.

The flight may be full. As long as you can find your flight, by tracking it either by flight number or confimation number, you're fine.
If I go into my flight confirmation area, on Delta's site, it will show my flight, seat choice. There have been times, way too many to count, that my flight shows as changed and my seats show as 'unassigned'. Then, I have to call Delta and get my seats reassigned. It's a huge pain. Because they make so many changes before I fly, I have started flying with JetBlue. I can't book as early, which drives me nutty, but once I do book, the flights don't often change by very much, if at all.
So...if you can find your flight, by using your conf. number, you should be good to go. But, get in the habit of checking it once a week or so, especially as you get closer to your travel date.

Odds are you're ok. You can always call Delta to confirm. Usually the reason the flight won't come up when fake booking a reservation is the flight is simply sold out. Also, airlines will occasionally reserve seats for walk-ups, or last minute bookings. I think they do this because they can charge considerably more for the seats. I've had to do a lot of last minute bookings in the past for my job, and coach, full-fare seats can be 2 or 3 times as much as the same seat booked even two to three weeks out.

It would not surprise me at all if a flight for June of next year to or from Orlando is already sold out though.

a sold out flight will not appear in the list of available flights when you book online...because it's not available....so no reason to show it...

Thank you all for your help!

I went in and pulled up the itinerary and found that they did cancel our non stop flight! :scared1: It was to be the only non stop out of Dayton and now there are none. So it now looks like they put us on the 6:20 am Comair flight from Dayton to CVG, then a flight from CVG to MCO.

My new concern is that only gives us a 44 min layover in CVG. We are a group of 6: 2 seniors, 2 adults a teen and a 6 yr old. Honestly, will 44 min of a layover be enough time to get to gates or should I look into another flight? Or sit on this since our vacation is in June and see if they add the non stop back on?

If you're switching from a Comair/Delta Connection flight to a regular Delta flight at CVG, you'll actually have to take a bus from Comair's terminal, across the tarmac to the main terminal. I'd be very concerned about that connection time if that's the case.

If you're just transferring from one Comair flight to another, it's a small terminal and you shouldn't have much problem.

Yes, we will be transferring from a Comair flight to a Delta flight.

If 44 mins is not much of a layover, how much time would I need? This will be an early morning flight if that helps any. My other option is to see if I can do the direct flight out of CVG. But I am not sure if they would charge us to change the tix.

I wouldn't go with that short of a layover. You figure the next flight starts boarding 30 mins before departure and they want you at the gate when that happens.

I would call Delta and see if they will move you to the nonstop.

If your flight is cancelled they may or may not automatically reschedule you. If you do not like what they gave you, you may choose yet something else at no extra charge. Again, it would help if you look on line first and have in mind two additional choices before you telephone in case one is sold out.

Now if you do telephone, that locks in you choice until they change it again. It is OK to let it sit in which case nothing is locked and you can wait and see if something better appears.

Should nothing better appear and you are still on the flighs wequence with the short layover, the airline must still honor the existing tickets and fly you to your destination even if you miss the connection.

Thank you all for your advise!

I think I am going to talk to my ILs at this point and see what they would like to do. I am leaning towards calling Delta and seeing if they can put us on the direct flight out of CVG and not deal with the layover. Since I paid for non-stop that is what I should be getting.

I agree that they should be providing a non-stop flight since that is what was originally booked. Since Delta made this change to their non-stop flight, has anyone had any luck getting a refund (despite it being a non-refundable ticket?)? Just wondering if this might also be an option for the OP since they no longer have a non-stop flight… I am also afraid that even once you make this change, it is likely to be changed again before your trip begins...

I didn't even think of another change. Ugh!

Do you think maybe I should sit on it a while before I make any changes?

My flight from CVG to MCO (Dec 18th - Jan 5th )nonstop leaving a 10:45 is not showing anymore. My confirmation number shows everything fine and confirmed. When you look at seat available in my interinary(Where you can change your own seats) It shows plenty of seats available and no more being filled? Delta says I am fine. However flights leaving at CVG at 10:45 are showing one stop now and later arival time. I am suppose to arrive at 1pm. Does this sound like another change?
