Last X-mas when I went down to Disney World and we left really early and I forgot to put my glasses on my head. So i didnt have them. Im not blind or anything but im fairly nearsighted and get a headache without them. We had a friend go over and try to overnight them through the post office to our campground. We were there for a week and they never came, so I had to leave Florida without them ever arriving. Then when I got home I still didnt have them cause they were lost in the postal service. I finally got them back a little bit after i got back but the box was all smashed and there was like ooze in my glasses case. I was mad becasue I had a hard time reading things. Has anyone else has a similar forgetful moment, or misfortune on their trip?

in January when DH and I went to WDW, we got to our local airport for our 1am flight. We began going through the new security check gates and they asked to check our ID. The agent brought it to our attention that DH's drivers license had been expired for 6 months! We began to panic that we weren't going to be let on the flight. It was on a friday night, so the DMV was closed for the weekend. Luckily, the agent took pity on us and let us through, but not before she marked us as folks to "search"! A small price to pay for her letting us on the plane!

Even if it is expired, it is a government issued id and should be enough to verify identity.

It isn't valid to drive with that license, but it is still valid for identification purposes.

I supposed they could require a "valid" driver's license to verify identity but whether or not you can drive with it should not impact whether or not it verifies your identity.

I've been worried each trip that I'll forget something important! The only way I can stay calm and sleep the night before is to include all items on my packing list and check it one last time in the morning. The night before we leave, after all suitcases except carry-ons have been put in the car, I position the packing list on the kitchen table under my car keys where I can't help but see it in the wee hours of the morning. The list includes things like motion sickness patch on, sweater/jacket for plane, purse, money, watches, medications, DH prescription glasses, sunglasses, drivers license, air/disney/towncar tickets and confirmations, camera, cell phone, etc. Everything I need to have or to do is on the list and each item, including drivers license, gets checked visually before we head out the door.

Many trips back I put my list into a spreadsheet, complete with checkboxes, so I can just reprint it for each trip. This system works well for me.

We were returning from our Wonder cruise and were headed to the airport when our son remembered he left his suitcase on the dock where the CMs unloaded everyone's luggage. Disney magic found our missing case and had it sent to the airport in time for our flight back home. That pixie dust is powerful!

Not quite on topic but I hope it may help someone. I travel for business and wear glasses, without which I am lost. I chose a national chain store for glasses (they do them in 1 hour) just in case. They are a little more expensive but I can either get a replacement quickly (and they have your prescription in the computer) or parts if an ear breaks off, the clip on sunglasses get lost, etc.

So far so good.
