The Howie Carr thing really made me think. As someone who grew up in MA, I honestly cannot believe this fool is even this close to becoming President.
First off, his wife was always Teresa (ter-eesa) Heinz. Not Teresa (ter-ay-sa) Heinz Kerry. Second, even if you don't agree with the Swift Boat Veterans, listen to an ad. Do you hear the ridiculous accent he's sporting when he's giving his testimony?? Where did THAT go?? He just came back with an accent that sounds exactly like JFK - from Vietnam? He must have gotten tired of it because it's gone now.
Then there's the story about the fire hydrant. He didn't want to have to walk 10 feet and not be able to park in front of his house (I say house because whether the guy has a "mansion" is of no concern to me). He couldn't park his (no, wait - his family's) SUV in front of his house, so he had the fire hydrant moved. To heck with the people who LOST their space, right? As long as HE can park in front of his house, life is good.
He's voted over 350 times to raise taxes (go to
www.gop.org and look up REAL STATISTICS, not stupid personal attacks), yet when it comes to his own taxes, he has never once volunteered to pay the higher MA income tax, which is an option. Guess he doesn't believe in leading by example.
And then there are the legendary stories of how he's had innocent boaters escorted away from his (I mean his family's) island. Apparently, when there is an event there, you can't get anywhere near the place....even if you're just in the water with your boat like a normal person. The entire ocean becomes his.
MA may vote for Kerry because it's a liberal state, but most people don't LIKE him. He's an arrogant gigolo with a fake smile. Not that that's a reason to not vote for him (if you want your taxes raised by someone who won't even raise his OWN taxes, by all means cast a vote for him), but I wouldn't want to be his friend.
I don't agree with Bush all the time, but I think I can hang with him. We can BBQ, toss back a few beers, talk sports, ride some horses. I think it would be fun.
ETA: I would throw back the beers, of course. He could have his choice of a variety of non-alcoholic beverages.
