We're going to be driving down from MI once again this June. I'm looking at a hotel in Forest Park, GA for our overnight stop. If anyone here can tell me if this is a decent area to stay, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks! :goodvibes

Forest park is not a place that i would want to stay. If you are talking about the city itself just off of 75 there are some hotel near South lake Mall that are OK. Are you coming down 85 to 75 or straight down 75?

Try checking tripadvisor.com for reviews of hotels there.

Yep, I always do that, thanks. :)

However, I booked purely on reviews last year and we were stuck (prepaid) with a room that was in the vicinity of a truck stop and hardcore bar. We got no sleep whatsoever, due to bar music, people yelling and semis pulling in and out all night long. Apparently that wasn't an issue for the people that left the decent reviews, LOL. ;)

What I was asking was really about the area. There are a few spots around here I would never recommend, no matter how good the hotel reviews were.

I was just hoping someone local to the area might be willing to offer a little insight. :goodvibes

Thank you ~ that is exactly what I was wondering! We are coming straight down 75 and the hotel is listed as being on Old Dixie Way off of exit 235. Thanks again!

Just 23 miles south on I-75 is Locust Grove, Georgia with a fairly new Comfort Suites and an area where I wouldn't hesitate to stay (and have done so). There is also a larage Tanger outlet mall if you are looking for something to do after stopping for the evening.

I would not stay in Forest Park. It's not a terrible area but not the best. Go a little farther south or stop north of Atlanta - near Kennesaw.

We have a bad morning rush hour. Stay north of ATL only if you plan on driving the final leg on a Saturday or Sunday morning. If traveling Mon-Fri in the am, definitely stay south of the city. Sorry I don't have any specific tips for you. Good luck.

Thanks for the reminder about rush hour! :)

And thank you to everyone for the great tips about good places to stay. :thumbsup2
